Need Pest Control

Anyone use a good and reasonable insect/pest control specialist?

Mainly looking for someone to do some regular spraying inside and outside of the house. My wife called Orkin and they wanted to charge me a $140 one time charge then $100 every two months for maintenance. Seems pretty steep to me.

I've used Team Too in the past for termites and I was really happy with their work, and for not having to get tented and be out of the house for days. Their prices were reasonable for the services I needed. I have been thinking of calling them for pest control services, but for now I just handle pest control on my own. I like them because they are a little more eco friendly than other companies. Check them out, and post back what their prices are for pest control whether you use them or not.

IAC, I thought you rent at Woodbury Place? This leads to an interesting question, is IAC responsible for infestations? I know the all maintenance workers very well, I'm sure they are willing spray some insecticide if I ask...

Newport Exterminating

Quote for single family home:

For in/out treatment, one time fee $145

Maintenance, $65/month or $80 bimonthly

If your name is accurate, IACRenter, shouldn't IAC cover these costs? At my community Newport Exterminators comes out every Thursday to spray outdoor areas. I also spoke to management here about a possible bug infestation (which so far it seems was only because of the hotter summer days) - and unless it's some really random, exotic infestation that can be traced to you they'll take care of it (ants, spiders, etc.).

IAC does offer pest maintenance free. I've since moved on to a private rental and need to do my own pest control.

terminix charges similar for a one-time service. however regular service its only $78 per QUARTER. lot cheaper than newport extermination although i've heard good things about them too.

I was calling around and was thinking of going with this company:

Accurate Termite & Pest Control

They have an A rating from BBB and no complaints on their license. Their website also lists several local contracts with HOAs and businesses. I spoke with a woman named Patti. She seemed very knowledgeable and friendly. She even encouraged me to call around for other estimates and even said if I choose another vendor she would still be happy to answer my questions.

Estimated costs for single family home:

$145 one time fee for in/out (no contract)

$100 one time fee for in/out (with non-binding maintenance contract)

Contract maintenance fees:

$45/month

or

$65 bimonthly

Anyone heard anything good or bad about these guys?

I use Antimite because they used to be cheaper than Orkin et al... but the last time, their prices went up and their length of guarantee went down. They used to have a 90-day on their one time service but now it's only 30-day and it used to be like $108 and now it's up to $139.

They're pretty good... but I really can't compare since they are the only ones I used.

Have you tried to bust a CAP in them?

Besides ACMPE's LOL list. I'm finding a lot more Black & Brown Widow spiders this summer and of course the ubiquitous Irvine ants.

I had a great run at Woodbury Place...I would recommend the location if you have a family and are looking for a townhouse style living with direct access 2 car garages. My family was getting a little crowded there so I decided to move into the private rental world. I guess I need to update my user name ;-)

It is interesting. After living in IAC complexes so long I really do miss having staff make repairs in 24hrs. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy having a single family home finally and letting my toddler run around in the home. But renting a house gives me more of a taste of real home ownership...including some of the maintenance headaches. You really get spoiled by an IAC handyman. As you can tell I am not so handy.

Have you seen this? I don't think this is covered under any exterminator's terms of service.

AstuteObserver HOA Towing service can eliminate all type of vehicles including parked flying saucers. The space aliens forgot to read their HOA manual that they are not allowed to store human captives in their garage and their vehicles are only allowed to be parked at the center of the Cul de sac.

I live in Ladera and experienced really bad ant infestations for the past couple of years. Last year I had an exterminator recommend Terro products (http://www.terro.com/products.php). I used their ant dust around the perimeter of my townhouse back in June and I haven't had any ants. I swear by their products!

Terro also makes products for spiders, termites, etc.

don't forget -
