Moving Company

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
@bluemoon: True, but I already used my Public Storage $1 for the first month, lol... so I couldn't take advantage of that again. I should have gotten a friend.

rob--I thought about pods but my IAC neighbors would probably get pretty pissed if I left big ole container sitting in a fire lane or parking stall. They might even call PatrolOne on me and tow it 10 miles out to an impound yard :-)

Yeah, like patrolone is going to do something ::rolls eyes::. There's this car street parked with expired tags and a flat tire (not really a POS car, but decent) that has been ticketed and has been in the same spot for almost a month now. I am about to call Irvine PD to tow it.

I forget... Pods are more difficult when you don't have street parking or a driveway available. I wonder what IAC rules are on pods? You think they would pay to have it moved?

I had a great experience with Good Luck Moving from the San Gabriel area. They charged me $50 to come down to Irvine, and 65/hr for 2 guys...

When I move, I just call some friends over to help me pack, then I feed them prime rib dinner. We tape seal all boxes and only write room names on them. Then I call the moving company to come and haul the stuff to new place.

Moving is a pain in the butt, but it's also a good time to sort through your stuff and toss (or donate) as much as you can. The amount of junk that you accumulate through the years add up... I personally went from 2 suitcases to 30 boxes, then 90 boxes.

If you can deal with the language barrier, try this guy:

Nam Kheo: 714-719-9158

He moved my cousins from L.A. to H.B. for $200 and me from Garden Grove to H.B. for $120. I had a LOT of stuff but they finished in ~3 hours. This was 4 years ago, so I don't know if he's raised his prices any.

i've used lucky moving before as well. like CK, i usually provide some food and snacks for the movers (or contractors). it's goes a long way.
