I always wonder why there are so many Asian businesses in Garden Grove & Westminster when there are so many Asians in Irvine & Tustin?
Because they all look alike to you? Garden Grove is a Vietnamese community, Irvine is Chinese.
Actually, while the viet population has expanded from Westminster to include parts of GG and Santa Ana, GG was and continues to be predominately Korean.
Irvine, while it does have many people of Chinese ancestry, is actually in my experience a big mix of successful people from many ethnic groups including Koreans, Viet, Hispanic, Persian, etc. who leave their ethnic enclaves "for the good life"
here is the breakdown from the census:
Races in Irvine:
* White Non-Hispanic (57.0%)
* Chinese (10.5%)
* Hispanic (7.4%)
* Korean (5.3%)
* Two or more races (4.8%)
* Japanese (3.6%)
* Asian Indian (3.1%)
* Vietnamese (3.1%)
* Other race (2.5%)
* Filipino (2.4%)
* Other Asian (1.9%)
* Black (1.4%)
* American Indian (0.6%)
