A rosewood Eames chair is desirable to modernist nerd like a classic corvette or mustang is desirable to a classic car collector.
Personally, I like the chair because it has a simple elegance. It is also extremely comfortable and I would like to spend many hours reading in an Eames chair. Of course, I can't come to grips with spending $3,500 for a chair (and ottoman) so I'll continue to hope I find a good deal on a used one.
where were you 8 years ago? Believe me, you do not want a used one! It was so comfortable people were not sitting in it just for reading.
Haha! That is a pretty good point about used furniture. Perhaps I'll just have to bite the bullet and purchase a new one.
I wish I had been there 8 years ago, BK. Although I would not have been able to afford that 8 years ago (I was just a poor young fellow then) so the point is moot.
That 8 years of delayed earning is what separated the rich housing bulls and poor IHB bears.

Is it just me or is there a spike in listing scams. Beware of people who want to send you cashier checks, using movers/shippers or who what you to wire any excess money to any third party...
EXAMPLE OF SCAM BELOW:
Hello Seller, Am responding sequel to your posting on craigslist, i
will like to know if the item is still available for sale,because am
satisfied with your description of the item my payment method is
issuance of (CERTIFIED CHECK)in US Dollars.And as soon as you receive
the payment and clears your bank i will make arrangement on how to
pick it up at your location.if you would like to sell for me do get
back to me with your contact information where the payment can reach
you within 2-3 business days.

Exception: When "used" is really almost "unused," such as a mattress from someone's rarely visited guest room. Still, you'd really have to trust the buyer to know, and disclose, everything that's happened on that bed, which is why you're still probably better off buying new. You shouldn't ever pay the list price, because haggling is expected. Consumer Reports suggests you need to spend about $800 to get a good-quality queen-size mattress and box spring set. That works out to about 25 cents a night -- a small price to pay for cleanliness and comfort.
