May I suggest picking up a bottle of TJ's Coastal Syrah and doing a taste test? Pour about an ounce sans Venturi into the glass. Taste. Repeat, but using the Vinturi the second time around. I will be surprised if you do not notice a difference. :)

yes, you may. It's one of hubby's favorite cheapie reds, especially being from Paso. Although I think I'll get him to try it with his Rabbit Ridge Allure de Robles too.

Saturday's was 10 wines on the five cent sale. Seven were chards (I made the Mr. Yuk face) and there were three reds. The cab was only a good value thanks to the second bottle at five cents. Maybe next week...

I'm very fussy about Chards as well. While the French ones typically do not dissapoint, the trend away from oaking is starting to provide some pretty decent domestic ones. We did a tasting up at Four Vines in Paso a few weeks ago and I was surprised by how much I liked their Naked chardonnay. The grapes are sourced from Santa Barbara. In fact, we even bought a bottle and I can't remember the last time I bought a chardonnay from a tasting. If I recall it was $14 at the winery. Also, loved their port.
