Refrigerator in the kitchen is a good spot to lean on. It is sturdy and the food will be close by.

I thought the best thing to do during the earthquake was to stay indoors and crouch down next to a big/sturdy piece of furniture so when it falls, it creates a 'triangle of life'.  But what do I know, I'm a CA newbie so all this earthquake stuff is new to me.  I think the earthquake preparedness (money/food/etc) is good for post earthquake when the apocalypse begins.
