Crime areas in the OC

I've been seeing comments here and there about parts of OC where it's not a good idea to walk alone at night. Can someone name these places, and please be specific (instead of saying, for example, Santa Ana, say so-and-so street between this avenue and that street)?

<em>"Stay EAST of the 55 Freeway"</em>

That wouldn't be "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redlining">redlining</a>," would it?

Uh I will contradict the stay east of the 55 theory. Stay away from Chapman and Hewes at night which is east of the 55. I mentioned Kodiak street in Orange as being scary with heavy gang activity but the El Modena area especially Pearl street is about 10 times worse. Where is ISB? He will back me up on this one. I'm sure he is aware of OVC.

<p>I gotta mention the resort area (Harbor between Ball and Chapman; parts of Katella) of Anaheim is perfectly safe at night. It would hurt the city financially if the tourists were afraid to visit and walk to their hotels after a convention or the parks close. The police presence in the Platinum Triangle is also HUGE during an Angel game or event at the Honda Center. They are mainly just directing traffic, but they are still there.</p>

<p>Graphix</p>

<p>I used to live off Chapman and Yorba. But here is a great link for Chapman and Hewes <a href="http://www.cityoforange.org/traffic/Chapman_Hewes_Cam.htm">http://www.cityoforange.org/traffic/Chapman_Hewes_Cam.htm</a> FYI. This is west of the 55. But this whole area is basically a little Tijuana. Driving on Chapman is very scary at night. This is a favorite spot for the DUI Checkpoint too. Used to be hundreds of Day Labor guys that hang here. Its not as bad now but no place to be late at night. </p>

<p>bltserv,</p>

<p>Nice find. I had to put that in my favorites. I jig jog through that area to get to Irvine to avoid the traffic and I know that intersection very well. Too bad you can't see abandoned boarded up check cashing place behind the donut shop.</p>

<p>And no offence but it is east of the 55. If you take the Chapman east exit it will take you there and if you took Chapman west you would end up in old town Orange. Plus <a href="http://www.theorangehillrestaurant.com/restaurantpics.htm">Orange Hill Restaurant</a> is just up the way from there which faces west for the sunset and a view of the 55. You can see Chapman as the major street on the left. </p>

I have been to Orange Hill many times, and the view has NEVER looked that nice to me. Those fancy photographers make'em look so nice....

<p>I've been there too, the <a href="http://events.ocregister.com/orange-ca/events/show/1655706-sunday-brunch-orange-hill-restaurant">Sunday Brunch</a> is good, wide selection, little pricey.

stay east of the 55, so orange hill would be in safe territory. to be more specific, east of prospect blvd along chapman is where the hills start and you start getting into more affluent areas. orange park acres and foothills of tustin are very nice neighborhoods.

<p>Sorry but Ana-crime is no place to be. I used to live on the edge of Santa Ana near South Coast, and it was ok, but still, when I moved to Newport/Irvine it is/was 10x what it was over there.... </p>
