Chick Fil A hates Asians in Irvine

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
not a joke, probably not best wording.  it really wasnt chick fila but the employee.

relax though, no need to go all PC. no offense was intended.

Unfortunately for Ching and Chong, there is no Asian version of Al Sharpton/Jesse Jackson/Louis Farrakhan. As a result, no big payday, no national campaign saluting Asians, no public call to boycott, no picketing in front of the store, no calls for Chick-Fil-A to re-train all store employees on harassment, nor a won million man march.

On a side note, from all the management harassment trainings I've had to attend, I believe the former employee could be sued and held liable as well = paying damages/legal fees out of her own pocket.  Anyone here in HR or Legal?

Legal action would be difficult, because "Ching" and "Chong" didn't suffer any monetary damage or injury.

yeah, hispanics suffer from the same lack of famous figurehead.  anytime something happens to the black community there is an uproar.  anytime something happens to a hispanic/asian, not so much. i joke around that i would like to see a hollywood A lister adopt a hispanic kid, since they always adopt a black or asian kid. hell, id like to see one of them even adopt a white kid

I just asked a question.  Accusing an organization of hatred is pretty serious, but you seem to have a glib attitude about it.  I just wondered what your motivation was.

The employee acted stupidly, but let's face it, this type of thing happens all the time without making national news. You have to wonder why it made such a big story and also why it's being implied that the cashier represents the entire company.  Chick Fil A is a company that donates heavily to "conservative" causes and nearly all of the reporting is from far-left news organizations -- MSNBC, HuffPost, and lefty blogs.  Coincidence?

I thought Gloria Alred was the de facto figurehead for Hispanics...  at least when a governorship is on the line.

i thought it was funny actually. i laughed when i saw the receipts. but i also have a very non pc sense of humor.  no motivation, just posted it because it happened in irvine. i would have laughed if it was directed at hispanics or blacks as well.

Liar Loan does bring up a good point of how it got national exposure in more liberal media outlets with CFA being a very conservative (and Christian) company.

Then again... as ihs alluded to, The Alexandra Wallace Incident went viral too.

And Moving has a point too... but alas, no reparations unless it's internment-related.

(hmm... I'm skirting PC-ness with qwerty now)

Man, we all need to relax. I am asian and I thought it was kinda funny too.

Unless it happened to you.

ive had stuff similar to that happened to me.  i was outside McCormicks in El Segundo in slacks/dress shirt waiting for my car and a white lady wanted to give me her valet ticket for me to go get her car (im mexican) and i thought it was kind of funny that she would think the only reason a mexican would be dressed up outside of McCormicks was because he would be a valet.

I was in Chattanooga TN at a burger joint waiting for a takeout order (by the entrance) and a young white couple walked in asking if they could sit anywhere they wanted, confusing me for one of the restaurants mexican employees. i was wearing basketball shorts/tshirt/cap, nothing like what an employee would be wearing.

they were stereo typing but i still thought it was funny. no harm no foul.

After you order at starbucks and the cashier says, "nah, don't worry, i don't need your name." A few minutes later...

"order up for Hoo Flung Poo Kung Fu Master Chinky Tiger Dragon. Hoo Flung Poo Kung Fu Master Chinky Tiger Dragon!?!?! Yeah you right there, order up buddy."

I'm sure you'd be laughing.

I was once on a cruise in the Carribean for 10 days, by myself.  I was young and amongst a mostly Philippino crew.  For 10 days everyone was trying to order drinks from me.  I thought it was hilarious.  The younger crowd and the crew all coalesced in our little group of partiers and it became sort of a running joke.  Yes, I looked like a crew member and all sorts of "white folk" kept the joke running but in the end no harm no foul.

Yeah it's probably not the funniest thing if it happens to you but it is still funny as an observer. When I told my friends what happened to me they all started laughing.
