Bike Trails

I found this today. It's an alternative to the well known auto club. Why is this relevant? They offer bicycle roadside assistance.

No need to pay for the bicycle roadside assistance - we have Peter. :p

[quote author="acpme" date=1210197875]no business anteaters on bicycles unfortunately...

whats a MUP and why are they dangerous?

MUP = Multi Use Path.

Generally they're considered hazardous because Cyclists riding at 25+ mph don't mix with Joggers/walkers who make sudden u-turns, Families on Beach Cruisers who wonder into your path unexpectedly etc. I've never had an accident because I'm ultra carefull but for instance, a Lady was killed on the Harvard section by the Church (on the trail) she was hit by a Cyclist...

I'm so nervous about letting my husband ride his bike on the street. It seems so dangerous with unattentive drivers (playing with radio, on cell phone, etc).

Cycling on the street can be dangerous, but I gotta say, PCH near Crystal Cove has the most gorgeous views. :)

IMO, you do really have to be careful when riding on streets. It's best to go with a few other people.

Vic, did you see my post in the Village Thread?

I'm wondering if anyone plays basketball on Saturday mornings at the Village Apartments?

My husband is looking for a pickup game.

I think pick up games are on Thursday evenings. I went to one of them about 6-7 months ago. The games are pretty casual. If your husband is looking for good competition, check out Heritage Park Court (Walnut and Yale) and/or Orchard Park Court (Yale and Roosevelt). Those games are pretty competitive.

Thanks, Vic. I'll let him know so he can check them out. He's always up for a basketball game. He usually plays in Newport Beach, but lately they haven't been getting enough guys showing up.

I ride my Bike to work anyway but not every Day so I guess seeing as I pledged to ride to work I'll have to ride there and back on Monday then actually ride to work and stay there the rest of the week... :mad:

$4-a-gallon gasoline knocking bicycle sales, repairs into a higher gear, dealers say

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Four-dollar-a-gallon gas is good for business -- if you run a bike shop. Commuters around the country are dusting off their old two-wheelers -- or buying new ones -- to cope with rising fuel prices, bicycle dealers say."Everyone that comes in the shop is talking about the gas prices," said Barry Dahl, who opened Barry's Bikes in Bismarck in April. He sold more than 50 bicycles in the first month, double the projections in his business plan.
