    Landscapers for Maintenance

Yes, they were quick. They took a few days, but to me that was quick because of how much they had to do (e.g., build a retaining wall). I highly recommend Sean as well. He's a real pro, super friendly, and easy to talk to. He just came by last week to replace 20 succulents that shriveled up and...

    Landscapers for Maintenance

We had trouble finding planters because real (non-plastic) ones are too heavy for online sales and local options are scarce, particularly for tall pots like the ones we wanted/bought. We thought our best chance would be at the place off Harbor and the 22 freeway. And they had two really awesome...

Nightmare childbirth at Hoag with Dr. Mercedes Sayago and Alex Deyan

Just thought I'd share my experience: We delivered both of our sons at Hoag Newport Beach and had a great experience, despite some relatively minor issues. Actually, neither my wife's OB/GYN nor anyone from her office was available when we went in, and the hospital doctor on duty, Dr. Barber...

    custom drapes

We struggled for a long time trying to figure out what to do about drapery because everything off the rack was too cheap looking or not the right size or way too expensive or all of the above. Finally we had the idea to try Etsy and found a really great expert curtain maker...

    Landscapers for Maintenance

Thanks Chairman! Here's my last set of photos (finally), from the courtyard. Very happy with it and it looks great at night, except we need to figure out some kind of lights to put into the pots because they look odd all dark up top.

    Landscapers for Maintenance

Just to update on Sean from Savanna Scapes, we're a few weeks past when they completed the work and right now he's at my house with a guy making some adjustments. This is probably the kind of thing you *should* expect from your contractor, but this very nice, friendly return visit to make some...

Couple more photos (because TI limits to 4 per post).

More pictures from the back. I still need to take some from the front/courtyard.

    Landscapers for Maintenance

Could be, but it doesn't sound too much like our guy because 1) he instructed you how to water the plants (he told us he would give us detailed instructions on caring for everything but never did), and 2) he actually came back to look at your stuff. Is your guy's name John?

    Landscapers for Maintenance

Our intent is to actually cover the entire wall eventually, but thought we'd maintain the diamond formation until it matures to that point. The diamond look is nice, but we really want to hide the ugly wall as much as possible. It's clear now that because the vines/stems of the roses and star...

    Landscapers for Maintenance

Here are a couple pictures I found on my phone from one of the corners when the back was almost completely done.

    Landscapers for Maintenance

Finally got my landscaping renovated almost from scratch. Took a lot of consultations before we finally decided on someone who A) seemed reliable that we liked and B) would bother calling us back. On the plus side and as a big bonus, he is fully licensed and didn't charge us a ridiculous price...

    Aloha Landscaping Contact Info?

Sorry to start a whole thread for this, but there seems no way to find the contact info for the Aloha Landscaping company (owned by Mahe and Sam, so I've read). We've been searching everywhere, but they have no presence online and the only place we ever see them referenced is here on TI, but...

    Landscapers for Maintenance

As @eyephone said, it's not that easy, @zubs. The choice of plants was based on one essential requirement: we have a seating wall and we were concerned with getting plants that were tall enough to be seen above the edge of the wall. Our landscaper spent time with us selecting plants that would...

    Landscapers for Maintenance

Aside from ripping out some of the overgrown weed-like bushes my wife hated, no, none at all, which is the main reason for the overgrowth. Their being overgrown is the current issue, but even if trimmed, the bigger, more general issue is they're ugly (especially to my wife  ;)  ).

    Landscapers for Maintenance

Hi eyephone! I remember you as well.  ;D I'm sure my wife wouldn't like me showing off how horrible our place looks now, but perhaps I can take some photos tonight and share them... though I myself don't like the idea of removing the thought of the old photos/video and replacing it with what we...

    Landscapers for Maintenance

Greetings all! As you may or may not recall, I posted extensively about the landscaping process of our new build last year (in Saratoga, so we have the enclosed private courtyard outside our front door). Since then all the stuff we planted has gone crazy with growth and not in a good way. For...

    Saratoga's Electric Ovens

No, it is not. That's another thing that surprised us, just how low-grade the oven and microwave are. The microwave is tiny and the face has started to bubble and peel in several places (and no, it isn't the protective shipping sticker, it's the actual console interface liner), and the oven is...

    Saratoga's Electric Ovens

Been in our Saratoga home for nigh on 5 1/2 months now. One of the big things that was important to us in buying the home was that we have gas appliances, where applicable (by that I mean we didn't want a gas refrigerator, but a gas stove was essential). Of course, all modern builds tend to...
