How did you handle it when you father passed away?

Panda, be thankful that you are grieving.  There are too many sons and daughters out there who may not grieve at all or nowhere as deeply as you at the passing of a parent.  The depth of your grief is a testament to the depth of your relationship with your dad.  You are a lucky man.  Be proud...

    Children's haircut

If I had two boys, then absolutely.  But with girls, it would just be too cruel.

Distance aside, which did you prefer, Rainbow or Firstcut?

    Dog groomer?

Diamond in the Ruff (part of Northwood Animal Hospital, which is also very good) on Irvine Blvd and Yale is pretty good.

    Possible scenario, feedback please.

Thanks for the suggestion.  But the only reason I'm considering the purchase is because of the commission free reduction that IR mentioned.  Otherwise there's no way I'm buying now - too much downside risk with practically zero upside.

    Possible scenario, feedback please.

Location is part of the problem.  Both our kids are pre-k (I'm fine sending them to Woodbury Elem).  But I really didn't want to settle down into a house until we were closer to high school age and make the decision then, balancing high school (is Irvine High sufficient  :P) with housing options...

    Possible scenario, feedback please.

Yes, under 800k would be a good deal.  I wouldn't do it if it was priced at market.  That's what would give me the cushion for the potential 5-6% drop. The monthly outlay on a 30yr would come close to our rent (interest deduction included), but significantly higher on a 15yr, more than...

    Possible scenario, feedback please.

Currently renting Portisol in Woodbury (with 3rd floor) paying below market ($3,500).  Was recently notified by owner that they may relocate and thus may want to sell the house.  The house has minimal upgrades - granite countertops, and that's about it.  Zero hardscape in backyard and linoleum...

Balloon Twister / Face Painter for Kid Party

I've probably been twisting for almost a year.  After learning one of the twisters at Rainforest Cafe was self-taught via YouTube, I decided to give it a try for the benefit of my two little girls.  But after a while, the novelty of it wore off for them so I haven't twisted for a couple of...

Balloon Twister / Face Painter for Kid Party

Oh, my gosh!!! I LOVE it! The candle piece is my favorite. Nice job. Did you use 160s on all of those? I've been working with 260s and just started with 160s. They seem really handy for bows or pieces with lots of pinch twists. Thanks!  Yeah, it's amazing what people have figured out to do...

Would you mind providing a link for the Hello Kitty video you liked?  I've yet to find one I liked. In case you haven't already discovered him, this guy's pretty good: http://www.youtube.com/user/warrenann

    North park versus Woodury

Lived in NPark Square for 6 years, NPark for 3 years, and am now in Woodbury.  Somewhat agree with the Korean/Chinese distinction. I miss being close to the Marketplace and will certainly miss being closer to Mitsuwa once it's built.  But I won't miss the traffic on Jamboree (or Culver for that...

does the hoa check on what actually gets done to the backyard/patio?

Back when I was in NPark Square, my neighbor was cited (a warning) because the planting in his backyard didn't meet up with CC&R coverage guidelines.  This suggests that somebody did somehow actually peek into his backyard.
