CZ already served his sentence last year, part of it at a halfway house in Long Beach. He is now residing in Dubai.

CZ could afford the $4.3 billion in fines and retained $60-$70 billion of his fortune. While in jail, he was well protected and the guards were busy asking him what crypto to invest in. After his release, he received a standing ovation at his first public event in Dubai. Now we even have rumors of Trump family engaging him for Crypto deals.
 
Like morekaos, I am crypto averse but over a medium haul, the returns are boggling. Someone here had to have bought some just to try.

For example, if you bought in 2011, it would be 100000x the value. In 2015, 250-700x... even in late 2017 when this thread was started, you could still make 5-10x.

Instead of TIC, I should have been picking up some BTC.

What's the hot crypto now? Trumpcoin? ETH? XRP?
 
It's the world's best ponzi scheme. The only people actually using crypto as a currency are drug cartels, sex traffickers, and ransomware scammers.

Not exactly the same but I get what you are saying.

Like Irvine real estate, value is defined by the people... and regardless of what you and I think... demand raises it to a commodity or fiat type status.

Prices is what you pay, value is what you get.

Irvine real estate has demonstrable value, although the price paid means it's not a good value. Crypto has no value because it has no utility.

When you factor in the environmental damage of mining Bitcoin, and the damage to lives caused by drug cartels, sex traffickers, and ransomware scammers facilitated by crypto currencies, the value of crypto is actually negative for society.

Like you said... its utility is to enable untraceable monetary exchange in the grey and even black areas of society.

So it's very difficult to say that its value will disappear because unfortunately... criminality is a constant.

It's like those coins in John Wick. :)
