Toyota moving to Texas

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
We are in a "Post Christian America" environment as religious identification and church attendance is falling. This is a discussion however for another thread.

I think the post would be better framed as the area being full of Dave Ramsey type fiscal conservatives.

This is how Venezuela did it, nationalization of the oil industry. Worked great there!!👍🏽🤦🏽‍♂️👎🏽😡😡😡

Is California government considering oil refinery takeovers? Yes, it is

Russia. China. Venezuela. Iran. More than a dozen countries make gasoline at state-owned refineries.

Could California be next on the list?
“The state recognizes that they’re on a pathway to more refinery closures,” said Skip York, chief energy strategist at energy consultant Turner Mason & Co. The risk to consumers and the state’s economy, he said, is gasoline supply disappearing faster than consumer demand, resulting in fuel shortages, higher prices and severe logistical challenges.

‘California’s High Gas Prices and Supply Dilemmas are Self-Inflicted’

Today, I paid $5.15 per gallon of gas in Sacramento, while the AAA national average is $3.078. In Texas today, a gallon of gas will cost you $2.45 to $3.29 – the average in Texas is $2.68. As Professor Mische notes in his study, “Since January 1995 through January 20, 2025, Californians have been paying, on average, 13.1% more for their gasoline than the rest of the nation. Not surprisingly, the average price of retail gasoline in California on March 11, 2025, was $4.694 a gallon, or 52.35% higher per gallon for all formulations than the national average price for gasoline at $3.081, according to AAA.”

It is no secret that California is its own worst enemy. There have been articles exposing this for decades, and now we have 50 years of irrefutable data thanks to Professor Mische. Oil and gas and California refiners “have not engaged in widespread price gouging, profiteering, price manipulation, ‘unexplained residual prices’ or surcharges, magical or otherwise.”

However, Governor Gavin Newsom, who is currently preoccupied with his new vanity podcast may want to consider talking to oil and gas industry officials – something he has failed to do in his 6 years as California’s governor.

There is no excuse for Newsom’s negligence of an industry which is an economic powerhouse in the state, providing hundreds of thousands of jobs, over $50 million in paychecks to workers, and billions in state, local and federal taxes.

And in typical ham handed corrupt government management, all those gas taxes we paid garner no returns on investments as most of the funds were probably misdirected or stolen…thanks Boy King and the Green New Steal!!!....😡👎🏽🤦🏽‍♂️

Los Angeles remains nation’s smoggiest city for 25th time in 26 years, despite progress

The association’s annual “State of the Air” report noted that L.A. held on to the infamous title for the 25th time even though the number of unhealthy ozone days has dropped nearly 40% since 2000. Particle pollution metrics told a similar story, in which L.A. saw improvement but still had the distinction of being the nation’s seventh-most polluted city by that measure.

Six of the ten U.S. cities with the worst air pollution are in Southern California, report says

While the rest of the country sees record low gas prices….we…expect new record highs….now is that because of “greedy” oil companies whose greed seems to evaporate at Californias borders? Or is it D-bag politicians and their short sighted, pointless, self important edicts that cause our mass suffering?....Hmmmmmm…let me think….🤦🏽‍♂️😡👎🏽😡😡🦄🌈

Gas prices could soar with refineries closing in California

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KRON) — California is bracing for the closure of two major oil refineries, including one in the Bay Area. State lawmakers are sounding the alarm on what that could mean for gas prices.

At just under $5 per gallon in Walnut Creek, some drivers are forking out over $100 to fill up the tank. With two refineries preparing to shut down, that’s expected to drive up prices.

In the East Bay, the Valero Benicia Refinery is expected to close in April 2026. Down in Southern California, owners of the Phillips 66 refinery are also planning to stop operations in the next year.

California Governor Gavin Newsom wants to phase out fossil fuels. He set a goal to ban the sale of gas-powered cars in the state by 2035 to cut down on emissions. But the U.S. Senate is blocking that goal.

We are #1!...and always will be as long as these morons run the state…While the rest of the country gets the lowest gas prices in years…we get a totally self-inflicted .65 cent/gallon hike next month…thanks guys for this and “High Speed Rail”! we Rule!!!...👎🏽😡😡😡🦄🌈

Senate Kills Bill that Would Have Repealed 65¢ Gas Tax Increase, Low-Carbon Fuel Regs

SB 2 ended following a forced floor vote

A Senate bill that would have repealed the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) gas tax increase of 65 cents a gallon and end the new LCFS Low-Carbon Fuel regulations that were adopted last year, was killed in the Senate on Wednesday following a forced floor vote.

Senate Bill 2, by Senate Leader Brian Jones (R-San Diego), would have voided specified amendments to the Low-Carbon Fuel Standard regulations adopted by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) on November 8, 2024. Specifically, they would end the amendments that would create a new blend of gasoline that is designed to help meet California’s emission goals in the coming decades to help meet California’s emission goals in the coming decades, as well and end the 65 cents per gallon increase in gas prices that it would bring.

Senate Leader Jones wrote SB 2 in December 2024 as a response to CARB’s November decision and Governor Gavin Newsom’s support of the increased gas tax.. The goal of the bill from day one was to stop the gas tax from increasing, because of the burden that the tax put on Californians who have already been paying over $1.50 more than the national average. However, despite bipartisan support, the bill barely made it past Senate Committees. In March, it even lost a committee vote and was considered killed until reconsideration was given for the bill.
