    Mandatory Tipping for Groups

Not sure what the laws are here, but in the state I bartended in, it was illegal to even attempt to charge a tip. Didn't stop most waiters from doing it, but they could get in trouble if they were reported to the right couple of state agencies.

    A gripe about defaulted homedebtors.

I know a guy who assumes no responsibility, and instead is upset with the bank for not giving him a loan mod. Making the bank eat the loss is the bank's fault for not working with him. Around the same time frame as him walking away (probably just before I would guess), he bought a brand new...

Ever been to Rosarito Beach in Mexico?

A good buddy of mine is Mexican, has family there, speaks perfect Spanish, has been south of the border dozens of times, with Rosarito being one of his favorite hang outs. For him a trip to Mexico used to require less thought than a trip to Vegas for most people in SoCal. He would always fly...

    Cash in Pocket

I'm also curious as to how long the cash lasts folks. In my younger, carefree days, I could easily move through $50 between weekends. Lunches everyday, occasional coffee runs, etc. Now that I'm settled down, hardly go out, pack a coffee and a lunch every day, etc, I marvel at how long $40 in...

    Visa black card

I scoffed when I saw the offer for the card. Until I saw the carbon part. It totally tickles the geek within... <em>"My credit card's modulus completely pwns your credit card's modulus!"</em>. But no, not enough to pay an annual fee. :)

How much "car" would you buy?

My approach is I determine how much I want to save, then pay all the bills, and then spend anything left over any way I want. This helps me to prioritize my wants. I have separate accounts set up, with automatic transfers monthly. My savings goals are a bit aggressive, but doable, and after 3...

I THINK THE MARKETS HAVE TOPPED

I don't see much fuel. One big difference is demographics. In 1995 boomers were coming into their strongest earning years. Right now they see retirement on the horizon and find their appetite for risk largely diminished. Surveys show boomers don't plan to retire at 65, and I can't believe...

Susan B. Anthony would be rolling in her grave right now.

Saw this at my local Costco a couple months ago and had to snap a pic. Nothing like a "Barbie Dream Bedroom Career Set" to set the 'libbers straight. ;) <img src="http://www.ozop.net/barbie1.jpg" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.ozop.net/barbie2.jpg" alt="" />

    Balut

I prefer mine with a smear of shrimp paste. Never would have guessed it can be found in jars.

    Got laid off....

My sympathies to the Mrs. In my ghettofabulous hood, we had 3 water main breaks on the same street happen within about 2 month's time span. With infrastructure as bad as it is, we should have every single willful CE employed. But, like social security, we just kick the can down the...

    Market selling Hawaiian food products

No Marukai in Irvine? I know they sell prepared poke, but I'm not sure if they sell the limu. Just curious what kind of "special nuts" are needed? I thought only the macadamia was indigenous to Hawaii. I'm in Hawaii now. I like that a lot of supermarkets (even Costco) have a variety of...

Citibank is hiking credit card rates

I don't care a bit about rates, but I've also heard that some free cards are starting to charge annual fees. I'm too worried about my FICO to cancel a card, even though the only card I use is my credit union's. Hope they don't start charging a fee.
