The incentives on the bZ are quite good, even if not as lucrative as last month's. The only other EV that has better incentives is the Ioniq 5, but the ICCU nightmare has yet to be resolved after how many years now...

Personally I like the new Toyota bZ with pricing lower than Rav4 and great financing options.
But, the Rav4 LE AWD model at couple thousand dollars more has acceptable MPG (hybrid), more cargo room/interior space and would likely fare better in emergency situations if you need to bug out.
On the other hand, if you have solar, battery and charging setup at home, EV or plug in hybrid would benefit from bug in scenarios where local gas stations run dry. Plus the battery system can also power your home. For shortet duration outages, your EV's V2H can keep the lights on.

I bought a 2026 bZ earlier this month for this exact reason. I have solar/battery with excess daily production, so it made much more sense to replace my ICE daily driver with an EV. No more gas stations for the daily commute ever again

Every one of those companies is bleeding cash..the only thing that keeps them afloat is government support and subsidies. China itself is in deep economic trouble that they are haveing more and more difficulty covering up. They are very near collapse and Xi knows it. The biggest gov subsidy for EV in China is… sales tax exemption. (Sales tax is 10%).
In 2023 alone, sales tax exemption accounted for 87.4% ($17.2 billion) of gov subsidy to EV industry in China.
In terms of direct subsidy given to auto makers, BYD has only received about $4 billion total from 2012-2024.
Over half of the cars sold in China today are EV’s. The sales tax exemption has been reduced from 10% to 5% (50% tax exemption) for 2026-2027, capped at $2100 per vehicle.
Sales tax exemption is slated to end in 2028. Similar to US ICE auto industry in early 1900’s, China has about 190 EV/PHEV auto makers today and will go through consolidation where many brands will dissapear.
