Oil is taking money from your pocket too.

EVs are better tech period. Just because you don't think so doesn't make it true.

There are many nascent technologies that are a slow burn. Apple was not the first smart phone.

Do you still have a land line? Cable TV? AOL?
Oil isn't a boondoggle, it's a resource in high demand. In fact, EV's have a huge number of petroleum based components within them.

It's simply your opinion is that EV's are better tech, but 99% of Americans don't agree. Tesla has been around for over 20 years and they haven't caught on. In fact, many consumers revile Teslas and don't give a second thought to the also-ran EV market. This is an example of you being highly biased due to the Irvine bubble that you're trapped in.

Decent sales but doesn’t even crack the top 5 and keeps falling down the list, not exactly catching on well…All 7 ahead of it are hybrids or ICE….🤷🏽‍♂️👎🏽😂😂🦄🌈

#8 (and falling) Tesla Model Y: 146,000 units sold (estimated)

The Model Y remains the top EV, racking up 146,000 sales according to Automotive News estimates. Still, that's down significantly from the 195,000 estimated sales from last year, as Tesla deals with the changeover to the refreshed model.

#1 (and rising) Ford F-series: 399,819 units sold

Ford's F-series lineup of light-duty and heavy-duty trucks remains the king of automotive sales, with a 12 percent rise in Q2 contributing to a 17 percent increase in the first half. This figure doesn't count the electric F-150 Lightning, which fell by 17 percent over the first six months of the year to 13,029 units.

The vast majority of sales increases are china selling to itself…sales elsewhere are losing ground and ICE remains dominant. That is just going to get worse for EV…the battle is waning.

Avoiding the question... how were Model Y sales globally the last few years. It's okay, you can prove your buddy LL wrong.
when sales go from 1 unit to two you have increased sales 100%…but it still just 2 when compared to the millions in annual sales of ICE…and now those EV sales are going backwards from 4 to 3 so that’s a 25% drop….ouch..numbers are violent😂😂😂😂👍🏽🦄🌈

I maintain my thesis that Tesla will eventually absorb all legacy domestic automakers - electrification is industry destiny and it’s all about software and materials science. Their moat and head start are intractable for the rest of the industry. European automakers are in an even worse predicament except stay long RACE as they will be the last remaining profitable ICE mfr. Ten years from now is my timeline.

Read what @OCtoSV wrote. Looks like I'm not the only one who knows EVs are the future. Even the poll on this thread knows the way.

Poor morebias and LL, blinded by ideology.

Technology is not political. Don't be scared.

Why would Tesla absorb anyone? I doubt Elon sees much value in most of the facilities and legacy (union) people. And 10 years? Really???

According to ChatGPT, less than 0.5% of all vehicles driven globally are Teslas.... absolutely pathetic! If the tech were superior, the price of used Teslas would be skyrocketing (just like used iPhones on Ebay) but instead nobody wants this "superior" tech because the batteries degrade over time and the low range is anxiety inducing.

Key data points

Rough calculation

If there are ~1.47 billion vehicles in total, and Tesla has produced (or delivered) ~7 million total:

So, Teslas likely make up about 0.5% of the total global vehicle fleet (including all internal combustion, hybrid, etc.).

If you consider just new vehicles sold annually, Tesla’s share is larger but still small compared to total global vehicle stock.
