I like the one in Irvine more. I have been to that home because it is the model. Those homes are huge and have an ocean / hill view.

oh i didnt realize that was the model. i've been there too. its la cima? i loved the plan 4 -- a hollywood hills-style mansion.

i guess my gist of my question was whether owning your dream home was worth paying 3x versus simply renting it. what the feeling of ownership worth? i have an old coworker who rents a beach house in laguna. he's been there for goign on 10 years now and is just steps from the sand. he's a partner at the firm and i would guesstimate he makes $800k+ per year, so income isn't an issue. but he never bought a home because his landlord isn't likely to kick him out and he's got his dream living situation at a fraction of what it would cost him to buy.
