I feel the same about the food we have here.
My friends/family rave so much about the food in Japan and Europe (specifically Italy and Spain) but I feel that we can somehow get some food that is very close to that just here in SoCal (as opposed to flying thousands of miles in opposite directions).
That's why when Matsumoto's had that pop-up recently at the Irvine Spectrum and the line was 5 hours long... all you had to do was drive to any shave ice place in OC and have just as good if not better shave ice.
