Rule #2 is the width should not be the same width as the home. I mentioned nothing about the garage orientation.
Garage is great from the alley but it should not be as wide as the house. Alley garage should not be slammed at the back of the home either because the first impression walking into the house should not be a dark wall. (Where is the back yard?)
Combine rule #1 and 2 is a solution where the garage is from the alley and a yard separating the rear of a home and the garage.
It is bad feng shui for a house where the rear has no windows (of opportunities).
Not all alley garages are good. Cachette is a bad example.
You described the BK prototype from my previous posts. Brookfield Homes was going to build it at Laguna Crossing. TIC may have changed the product to a more conventional product to appeal to a less sophisticated Iho crowd.
Was I just slighted?

BK rule #2.
Never buy a home where the house width = garage = trailer
For rule #1 refer to IHO and do exactly the opposite.

Yes, I like the setup of the Eastbluff (NB) townhomes with the garage and the house separated by a yard. If those were detached condo's I would really like them.

I really like the BK prototype...I hope TIC decides to have them at some of the new communities in the Northern Irvine area.

I'm not sure what the Eastbluff (NB) town homes look like but does it look like the Park Lane town homes; they are detached; with a yard separating the garage. Funny thing is some two car garages are attached together...
