Woman dies from fall at Great Park

First of all, my thoughts are with Her Family and Friends, what a terrible tragedy...

Secondly, because we never know what is going to happen from one minute to the next, "we" meaning "You" need to do your Homework upfront, not wait until the Ambulance arrives...

Kaiser is a Private Hospital, they do not have a Trauma Center, if you're in a life threatening accident on the 405 or Alton Pkwy etc they might take you there...

The only Trauma centers in the area are Western Med in Santa Ana, UCI and Mission Hospital...

It seems that when the Ambulance arrives in Irvine they will automatically take you to Western, because it's closer...but it's a Dump...

Mission is a much better Hospital so it's better to insist they take you or the injured Person there...it takes a few extra minutes but it's worth it...
From Personal experience the Paramedic will roll his eyes and sigh then say "OK then, I think we'll make it" but if you stand firm and stare at him long enough he'll take you to Mission, or UCI...

There's a huge difference between an Emergency Room and Trauma Center...

Disclaimer: a Loved one's life could be at stake, so take what I say with a pinch of Salt and do your Homework upfront!!

Trauma Center is often operated without the guarantee of profit. Hospital Trauma centers center across the US are facing financial hardship such as MLK. Non profit hospital can't operate in in city with high land cost. Facility must be cash flow positive. This is the case for Irvine that every RE transaction must be financially performing including hospital. (This was the reason Irvine Med closed).

When you study the non profit and charitable organizations in Irvine you will only find them located along the fringes in other cities but rarely in Irvine and that include trauma hospitals, March of Dimes, Olive Crest, Home Aids, Make a Wish and etc are all in Santa Ana and Tustin.

To get back to my comment Irvine's land cost is expensive and prohibitive for the operation of Trauma center and much cheaper to have the Trauma center in Santa Ana (where most victims died) where land cost much less and the financial equation would pencil out better.

All Irvine victims are sent to Santa Ana hospitals for this reason. Irvine spent so much money for the appearance but never have a functional strategy to deal with a city's 200,000+ population.

No trauma hospital when time is the essence between life and death.

No social and mental facilities dealing with the unfortunates in society.

No Irvine SWAT police force dealing with potential conflicts

No homeless facilities for families out and under.

No juvenile center dealing with teen runaways.

When a city exceeds 200,000 there must be infrastructure dealing with the ugly side of society.

Wealth discrimination is one way to weed out the negative elements.

I'm actually surprised that the County and/or the State doesn't force the City's hand in building some of the facilities you've mentioned.
 
The city wears a nice suit but the socks and underwear have holes. My mission is to take off the coat so you can see the holes that you all seem to close your eye and stuck your head in the sand.

I still think a Trauma hospital in Irvine will cut down travel time. Both Icicle gun victim and BA bank robbers could still be alive and post their ordeal here. Tri Village's bad feng shui would not have existed and there is no need to sell. Because of the karma no one will buy it.

I forgot to mention, it's also a good idea to call the Hospitals' Business Office to see if they'll accept your Insurance...
For instance, UCI and Mission (St Josephs) don't accept Blue Cross, one of the biggest Insurance Companies in the Country....

I agree Grace...by the way, I heard a while back that Irvine wants to spend $100 million to extend the Town Hall...
Has anyone else heard this?

Also, some urgent care facilities are closed over the weekend.

I think at the end of the Day, all Irvine Residents should stay healthy and be very very carefull <!-- s:( --:mad:<!-- s:( -->

This is why the legal waiver is 2 pages now for these type of events. Sounds like a tragic accident, but unless the Great Park was grossly negligent $10M seems rather excessive. How do the lawyers come up with these figures?
