He comes off as a hanger-on. I haven't watched all previous seasons of the show but I hear he was involved with two other women from the show and engaged to one of them? He doesn't seem to have a life of his own. Hasn't made his own path. I like what Gretchen said in the last episode: to stop assisting her, she doesn't want him to (he uses that as an excuse of why he has no time to work on his own life) and that if she left him tomorrow, he'd have nothing to his name because he has no ownership in her company. Also, I think it's very smart of her to not pay off his child support debt for him even though she says she could in one fell swoop. He could be a very nice man, don't know him personally. Just think his priorities are screwed up. Why is he spending money on a diamond ring when he's got a son with brain cancer who needs his dad to be fully present.
I have a feeling Gretchen will break up with Slade. She wants babies but 35 is staring her in the face. He can't get his act together soon enough to beat that biological clock. She loves him but she has better options. Next stop: Splitsville.
Slade was in the first season, engaged to Jo (one of the original Housewives). He was wealthy, or at least portrayed that way. He worked in the financial or mortgage industry and had a nice house in Coto. I remember he bought Jo a Mercedes at some point. She was much younger and very pretty, and he was her sugar daddy, in a sense. After Jo, he also dated at least one other original Housewife (Lauri, who later married a real estate developer and left the show).
It's funny that now, he's the deadbeat with nothing. I think Gretchen is smart not to marry him. I agree, she's basically told him flat-out he needs to make some money and deal with his child support issues, and stop being her "assistant."
Not that I've watched every single season...definitely not...
