Whip out your PDA...

I was just wondering, you can call it Nosey....what kinda PDA do you use?

I had the BB Pearl for around 2 1/2 years and it went haywire a couple of weeks ago so I went into the store and got the BB Flip...

After a couple of hours I was ready to take it back to t-mobile because the suretype was driving me mad, then I googled how to turn it off..

So anyway, the reason I got the flip is that it's probably the easiest one to carry in my Jersey Pocket on the Bike...

I really like the idea of an iPhone too...Vicstah gave me a run-down of his a couple of weeks ago, first time I've ever really looked at one...

So my question is, what's your fave PDA and why?

Just curious....

I have a few coworkers who have the iphone. They loved it at first and then the "new" faded... and its just another phone.

My mom has the BB storm... don't like it at all. It is hard to scroll and not very easy to navigate.

iphone 3G - cant beat the internet browser.

Edit - with the new software upgrade coming out this summer, should make it even better.

I can't compare the BB to the iPhone because I've never used the iPhone but everyone I know who has one really likes them...

I don't use the Browser on my BB flip much, maybe to google something or whatever, but I never just sit there and surf the web..I would say if you're gonna do a lot of surfing then the iPhone would be much better, my BB has a magnifying glass that you use to zoom in on a page..

I downloaded Google Maps which comes in really handy, I set the wi-fi up which makes the phone so much faster at Home and the Coffee shop...and anywhere with an accessible wi-fi of course...

I use my BB mainly for texting and emailing, my wife has the Curve with the qwerty K/B and I find it really hard to use, I've always been used to tap typing on my old BB Pearl and now the new Flip...

I guess it's personal preference...I would deffinately like to play with an iPhone for a day but right now I'm really happy with my Flip...

Are you a Mac user?

You can sync an iPhone with PCs too.

You may want to wait until June:

1. Rumored new iPhone coming out.

2. Palm Pre should be out by then.

3. New WinMo phones (HTC Touch Pro 2 and Diamond 2)

It really is a personal preference though. The iPhone's simplicity and web experience is amazing... but it's a bit big and heavy. BBs are solid, but they need to keep up... plus there is a premium to user their special data plans.

Sounds like you use the regular keypad for most of your text entry and you can still do that with the touchscreen phones, I just don't if anything with a full QWERTY keyboard will work for you.

I have 2 touchscreen w/ slide out keyboard WinMo phones but I miss just a normal flip cell... I'll probably switch one of the phones back to one once a good one comes out.

How much of the PDA functions do you use? Many "dumb" phones give you access to calendars/email/web and you don't need a heavy "smartphone" OS to do it.

i'm currently using an AT&T tilt (TyTnII in UK i think). i've used the iphone/BB storm/other winmo phones and IMO the iphone wins out over all. the apps really put it over the top of the competition

texting

1st place: Tilt/TyTnII - physical keyboard wins

2nd place: iphone - text prediction is pretty good once you get used to it

3rd place: BB storm - the clicking touchscreen doesn't work that well in portrait and in landscape it's a bit inaccurate

physical

1st: iphone - beautiful screen, slim profile

2nd: BB storm - slimmer than Tilt. bigger/nicer screen

3rd: tilt - it's fat and heavy

apps

1st: iphone - this is what makes the iphone the best. the apple app store is the most active and will probably stay that way for a while

2nd: BB storm - just launched their app world. there are some decent apps out there but not as many as iphone

3rd: tilt/winmo - app store isn't open yet (i think?) and even so, apps on winmo are really not designed well...most are designed for use with a stylus and doesn't do touch very well

OS:

1st: iphone - it works well and is polished. pretty fast also

2nd (tie): BB storm - they're releasing a fix soon but the storm's bugs have turned a lot of people off

2nd (tie) Tilt/Winmo - Winmo has a lot of enterprise support (BB does too) but it's still buggy and based on a dated OS. hopefully winmo 7 will change this.

We did this a few months ago and although my wife initially didn't want it or think she would use many of the iphone features, she is quite the fan now and has probably installed more apps than me.

I have an iPhone and like it quite a bit. The touchscreen keyboard is pretty awful though. The internet features and applications are very strong.

If you do a lot of emailing then BB is the way to go. I used to write emails on my old Treo, but rarely use iPhone for writing email since the keyboard is so bad. The physical keyboard of the BB can't be beat.

I think the main functions I use ALL the time are email, text, Alarm (for waking up, meetings and stuff all day long) and the downloaded Googlemaps ap has saved me a few times..

I downloaded the GOOGLE Ap for Blackberries and it has a voice feature where you hold down the green call button and talk your query into it, problem is, it doesn't recognize a Brit accent, the only one that I have got to work right is Starbucks...it's fun to talk into it to see what it "thinks" I'm saying...

As you can see below, you can set it to display emails and texts for a few seconds on the "Lid" so you know whether it's worth opening the phone or not, which is handy...

iPhone...because my little boy likes to use the LightSaber app. (I have to admit, I've swung the thing around like a sword myself a few times just to hear that cool sound).

Apparently there are thousands of apps for an iPhone right? They even have a level!!

There are tens of thousands of applications and more all the time. If you are looking for a level you have lots of options; I just looked and found 10 different level apps (including an official Stanley version).
