Where to shred documents?

I have a box filled with various incriminating documents about my Colombian drug lord past (back when I was known by the alias Conejo Enamorado) that need to be shredded.  Is there some place local in Irvine that accepts walk-in's with a box?

If this is only one box of paper, your best bet is to invest in a heavy duty shredder from Staples or Office Max and do it yourself. Then you are all set for future shredding.

If you insist on professional help for your shredding, I did some Google Fu for you. I never tried any of these services but you can give them a call. My company uses Iron Mountain but that is probably overkill.

Been doing some year-end cleaning and found out that there are certain UPS stores (and other PO box type places) that have a 3rd party shredding service.

The one on Culver/Walnut in Heritage Plaza charges $1/lb up to 15lbs, .90/lb up to 30lbs and then .75'/lb from 30 on up (or something like that).

EDIT: Corrected the charges, it's per pound which can get pricey.

That's a lot easier than me shredding 10 pages at a time with the little shredder from Costco.  ^_^

I have a whole box of papers that contain personal information (mortgage/loan docs, bank statements, etc) that I need to shred.  Not sure what the weight is but can't be more than 20 lbs-ish.

A typical banker box weights about 10-20 lbs depending on how much you stuff it.

Also, OfficeMax does it for 0.79 per lb and they have 20% off with those paper bag coupons they put in the newspaper.

The AIM Mail Center on Michelson and University also does it for $1/lb. You might want to call around to see who else has shredding services.

For higher volume, ProShred in the Irvine Airport Circle has a drop off by appointment service. They are a bit cheaper as I think it's about $10 per box (I don't think they weigh it). If you make an appointment between 3 and 5 when the trucks are coming back, they will shred it live in front of you:

This might be too late for some... but there is a free Goodwill shredding service today until noon at Heritage Park across from the Heritage Library on Walnut/Yale between Culver and Jeffrey.

Saw after I was playing ball... putting stuff in my IHO-mobile now.

So it was a City of Irvine Winter Cleaning Event:

They also had an area in Woodbridge.

The service was done by Goodwill and they have a pay drop off service at their Santa Ana facility. It's $20 minimum up to 100lbs and then 0.20 per pound after that... which is MUCH cheaper than those PO Box/OfficeMax service.

The guy at Heritage told me they are doing another one on Jan 26 in Woodbridge:

The Woodbridge is also E-waste disposal which we need to do also.

Burn it in your fireplace. Bury the ashes in the yard. :D
