No... unfortunately I have lived in OC for too long. I don't watch that much TV, especially the crime "CSI" shows. It's not about solving it, it is about sweeping it under the rug, er curtain. While I believe you, you and your crew would be able to find out who was behind this in heartbeat, especially with the FBI help you have with organized crime. (no, seriously, over Superbowl weekend I chatted with a FBI dude that specializes in Asian organized crime). All in all, we don't have the same ethics here, nor do we have the staff. Plus, you combine that with a billionaire that is dependent on selling homes in the safest city in America... and you have what happens behind the Orange Curtain. I wish, I truly wish the same ethics and beliefs you have were the same as a whole down here. Money talks here, and money can make things seem something they are not. PM me or email me if you want the real deal. But, as you can see, many experts of the culture of OC and the Asian gangs are agreeing with me. You would be shocked at some of the things I have seen, and I have only seen a fraction of the shady system here.
Trooper, you needn't defend cops in general. I'm not indicting the profession, merely your assertions about the integrity and intent of the IPD. Undoubtedly, you would have said the same thing about LAPD before Perez, Mack, or even Furhman. My intent isn't to make you defensive, but rather to point out that conspiracies are secret and hidden by definition and you won't know about it until someone lets the cat out of the bag. You would be shocked if bkshopr and graphrix were correct, most Irvine residents would not.
The article link does not indicate which part of Irvine. As I recalled it occurred at one of the newer villages in Irvine.
Eversince that shooting Chanteclair french continental restaurant never recovered and was eventually sold. That place lost most of its loyal patrons.

This dude got whacked. Whether it was the Triads or Wah Ching, dude didn’t pay his taxes, and we will most likely never know who it was. Because… IPD would never, ever, ever, ever, tread there. They know better. And, that is the way who made the hit wanted it to be.
We have given way too much credit to IPD for being the safest city in the US. In their best interest disclosing as little as possible and eventually it will go way. If it wasn’t for the media this then big elephant would have been swept under the rug.

Trooper, right now the Coroner's office is busy trying to rule this a suicide. The only way this gets ruled a homicide if it they prove that he was murdered in Santa Ana and his body was dumped... and the Sheriff's Office has the confessed killer in custody. If you don't believe that cops can and will manipulate evidence to arrive at a pre-determined outcome, then you must have forgotten about Rafael Perez.

I haven't followed this case, but one other poster indicated that no gun was found at the scene. If so, how they gonna call it a suicide ? What...did someone run up after he shot himself, and steal the gun? Now, if it's a suicide, it's a suicide. But if leads indicate otherwise, those coppers are going to do everything they can to solve it.
Donald and his crew may very well try and manipulate true crime statistics, but murder isn't one of them he's going to be able to "sweep under the rug."
bk, sorry to hear that IPD hasn't returned your phone calls, but I tell you honestly (because I've worked Homicide in the past)....citizen "hunches" are rarely considered seriously. If you've got something more concrete, call them back. I'm sure they've pulled all video surveillance of ever traffic camera in the area, including all Cal-Trans cams. So you may be suggesting something that they already know.
It is nice to see a citizen getting involved though, so thanks. Don't get much of that up here.

IRVINE – A group of solemn people sat around tables at a fast-food Chinese restaurant off Jeffrey Road Wednesday night after a man was shot and killed while sitting in a white Lexus parked behind the eatery. Authorities are still searching for the shooter.
A light drizzle fell as Irvine police investigators combed the parking lot behind the shopping center at Jeffrey Road and Roosevelt looking for anything that could explain what led to the killing. Bloodhounds scoured the neighborhood, but came up empty. Meanwhile shoppers rolled carts of groceries out of the nearby Albertsons, sipped Starbucks coffee and ate Quiznos sandwiches for dinner, mostly unaware of the homicide investigation unfolding just on the other side of the wall from where they were living their lives.
Police were called to an Albertson’s shopping center at Jeffrey Road and Roosevelt, near I-5 Freeway about 4:40 p.m., Irvine Lt. John Hare said.
Officers found a man shot to death inside a white Lexus parked behind a row of restaurants, Hare said. Police said have not released the victim’s name but believe he worked in one of the restaurants.
Several hours after the shooting, police continued to search for a man in his 20s wearing a black hooded sweat shirt who was seen walking away from the Lexus just after the shooting. No gun has been found.
Police filled the shopping center parking lot. A helicopter flew overhead, and sent bloodhounds out to search the area.
Inside the Tri-Village Chinese Restaurant, investigators talked with employees. As the evening wore on, investigators left. A woman in a Tri-Village uniform drove her car out from behind police tape, her day cut unexpectedly short. Other employees and friends stayed inside, stepping out to smoke a cigarette or make a phone call.
Investigators were expected to have wrapped up the crime scene by midnight, but the search for the killer continued.

IRVINE – An Irvine man who was shot after pointing a military assault weapon at SWAT officers during a police standoff died early Thursday morning at Western Medical Center- Santa Ana , police said.
Steven Tracy Duigou, 43, spent more than a day in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries. An autopsy report is being conducted to determine the extent of his injuries and his exact cause of death.
The District Attorney's Office is currently investigating the incident, which is standard procedure for any officer-involved shootings, Irvine police Lt. Rick Handfield said.
The standoff between Duigou and the police began just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, when his wife told police that he had hit her in their apartment at Heritage Point in the 100 block of Topeka, Handfield said. Officers ushered the woman and her three children out of the apartment, but Duigou remained barricaded in a bedroom.
Police called in Irvine and Tustin SWAT units after hearing a gunshot from the bedroom fired in their direction. Negotiators reached Duigou by phone, but were unable to calm him down.
After a nearly two-hour standoff, police say, Duigou walked out the front door of his apartment at 11:41 p.m. holding what appeared to be a military assault rifle. He dropped to a crouching position and aimed at the SWAT officers, Handfield said, at which point he was shot by police. It is still unclear whether he was hit by Irvine or Tustin police.
Police are still not commenting on how many rounds were fired at Duigou, citing the ongoing investigation into the shooting. But at least two dozen bullet holes were left at the apartment, and several residents reported hearing a loud, rapid volley of 10 to 15 shots.
The standoff wasn't Duigou's first run-in with Irvine police. On Wednesday, Handfield acknowledged some "unusual" past contacts with him stretching back several years, but declined to elaborate today.
In 1997, Duigou was sentenced to 20 days in jail for two charges of driving under the influence, according to Orange County Superior Court records. In 1999, he was sentenced to 10 days in jail after being charged with battery against a cohabitant, records show. And in July, he was put in a diversion program after being arrested on suspicion of public intoxication, records show.
A search of Duigou's apartment Wednesday morning by a team of investigators from the Irvine Police Department, the District Attorney's Office and the Orange County sheriff's forensic team turned up several more weapons.
Duigou's violent death came as a surprise to some who knew him. Tony Huerta said he knew Duigou from his time spent working as a master technician at Foothill Ranch Chevrolet. He described Duigou as a funny man who used to entertain his co-workers by playing the accordion and singing at work functions.
"I just can't see him going postal like that. It's just not like him," Huerta said. "He was a funny guy, a character. I wouldn't say he was outgoing, but he was very friendly."
Huerta said Duigou had worked several different jobs since leaving Foothill Ranch Chevrolet earlier this year, including a security job and a position at an automotive repair facility.
"I understand he lost a couple of jobs after he left Foothill," Huerta said.
Some of Duigou's neighbors at the apartment complex knew little about him, describing him as standoffish.
Duigou's family could not be immediately reached for comment.

This incident occurred in Woodbury in an IAC Woodbury Square but there is no mentioning of Woodbury nor IAC but just some streets that no one in Irvine has heard of. Don’t even bother to google using terms like “Woodbury, IAC or Woodbury Square” It took me a long time to find this article. Luckily I recalled “LA sheriff”. I hope these three articles of crimes prove my point regarding extreme censorship. I would never trust journalism published by OC Register.

IRVINE – A Los Angeles sheriff's deputy was charged today with torture, mayhem and sexual assault for an attack in which prosecutors say he tried to force his wife to castrate a man she was planning to leave him for.
Police took Robert Avery McClain, 34, into custody Monday, hours after the male victim was found at an Irvine apartment complex. Prosecutors on Wednesday detailed the attack they say was spurred by McClain's wife's announcement that she was leaving him for another man.
Prosecutors say McClain's 31-year-old wife, whose name was not released, told him Sunday that she planned to leave him for a 23-year-old man who lived at a nearby Irvine apartment complex , where she worked in a leasing office. McClain is accused of persuading his wife to take him to meet the other man, whose name has not been released, at 10 p.m. that night.
Upon arriving at the apartment complex in the in the 1000 block of Payton , prosecutors say, McClain led the two into a kitchenette in the back of the leasing office, where he began to argue with them. As the argument escalated, McClain is accused of punching and kicking his wife and the other man, before taking out a knife and forcing them both to undress.
McClain undressed as well, prosecutors said, at which point he is accused of unsuccessfully ordering his wife to perform a sex act on both him and the other man, and then giving his wife the knife and ordering her to castrate the other man, which she pretended to do.
Prosecutors said McClain is then accused of using the knife to repeatedly slice the other man's face before forcing his wife to leave with him.
After leaving the leasing office, McClain is accused of sexually assaulting his wife, chopping off her hair with the knife and driving her back to their nearby Irvine home.
The wife and her four children were able to escape from the house about 5 a.m., prosecutors said, driving to a nearby hospital.
A cleaning crew arriving at the leasing office just after 7 a.m. discovered the male victim, Irvine police Lt. Rick Handfield said. Police soon found the wife at the hospital, where she identified her husband as the assailant, Handfield said.
Police found McClain at his apartment in the 1200 block of Virtuoso on Monday. He was taken to a hospital to treat injuries that police believe were sustained during the assault, Handfield said.
Both victims are expected to survive, authorities said. McClain is still receiving medical treatment and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail, prosecutors said.
McClain faces one felony count of aggravated mayhem, one felony count of torture, one felony count of great bodily injury, with sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a deadly weapon, great bodily injury to a sexual assault victim and the use of a deadly weapon during a sexual offense.
If convicted, McClain faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. His arraignment date is still undetermined, a district attorney's official said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department announced Tuesday that the department plans to fire McClain. He was hired in November 2007, and assigned to the department's custody division, where he served as a probationary deputy, sheriff's officials said.

After leaving the leasing office, McClain is accused of sexually assaulting his wife, chopping off her hair with the knife and driving her back to their nearby Irvine home.
The wife and her four children were able to escape from the house about 5 a.m., prosecutors said, driving to a nearby hospital.
A cleaning crew arriving at the leasing office just after 7 a.m. discovered the male victim, Irvine police Lt. Rick Handfield said. Police soon found the wife at the hospital, where she identified her husband as the assailant, Handfield said.
Police found McClain at his apartment in the 1200 block of Virtuoso on Monday. He was taken to a hospital to treat injuries that police believe were sustained during the assault, Handfield said.
Both victims are expected to survive, authorities said. McClain is still receiving medical treatment and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail, prosecutors said.
McClain faces one felony count of aggravated mayhem, one felony count of torture, one felony count of great bodily injury, with sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a deadly weapon, great bodily injury to a sexual assault victim and the use of a deadly weapon during a sexual offense.
If convicted, McClain faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. His arraignment date is still undetermined, a district attorney's official said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department announced Tuesday that the department plans to fire McClain. He was hired in November 2007, and assigned to the department's custody division, where he served as a probationary deputy, sheriff's officials said.

I'm guessing the only reason why this got any press was because it happened right next to the freeway during rush hour and the traffic helicopters noticed the large police presence. I first heard about it during "breaking news" when watching channel 7 news around 5pm. Usually during this hour channel 7 loves to follow high speed police chases.
I recently read about this killing in the Register, but I don't remember it getting any kind of press coverage when it happened.
Since there are so few murders in Irvine each year, is there anyone who can research old newspapers to see if they were ever mentioned?

My last point. City of Irvine and their partners are very clever by using "difficult to search keywords" in their articles regarding crimes. I was surprised when none of my keywords I typed in Google brought up the right articles.

Interesting examples bk. I googled "Irvine shooting" to see what did come up and with the exception of a few mentions of the recent incident at Trabuco Grove most of the stories are about incidents from several years back.
Some fascinating stories though... like this one Doctor's Aide Charged in Irvine Shooting - suicide, affairs, ties to the S. African gov't trying to buy toxic weapons, Uzis... WTF
Or an incident after an Irvine hip-hop event... In Irvine?!?!?!

It is silly for press censorship if indeed it exists. Irvine is certainly a fairly safe place. Bad things happen in every zip code.
