What Gym does everyone go to?

[quote author="tenmagnet" date=1208911341]I belong to Equinox fitness in Irvine/Newport Beach.

The facilities are great, trainers remind me of the show Workout on Bravo.

If anyone goes there let me know.

I usually wear my little sister?s t-shirt and scream ?One more rep, bro? in between sets.

Other than that I?m pretty normal.

Smell nice too (shout-out to AXE)!

There are always a ton of hotties coming in and out of the24hr. Sport at the Spectrum</blockquote>

How much do you for Equinox? I keep hearing about them and wondering if it is worth the premium.

No Limits MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) for me.. the one sort of across the street from the District off Barranca. It's where the old Staples office supplies used to be before they moved across the street.

Not cheap, and not a real "weights" gym, but great kickboxing workouts. For the more brutally inclined, they offer other full MMA style training if you want to be an Ultimate Fighter. Nothing like kicking and hitting the crap out of 100lb bag at the end of a stressful day.

I went to the 24hr at the Spectrum. It's a very nice facility. But it's a little far for me. Still thinking about either joining the Ultra Sport or the UCI ARC. Does anyone know how to get a deal?

I am not sure about getting deals at the ARC or at Ultra sport, but if you are thinking about joining 24hour fitness I would suggest getting a 3 year plan. The yearly renewal rates are pretty amazing (approx. 99 dollars a year) Obviously this is only a good choice if you feel that you will use your membership for years to come.

I've been at 24hour fitness since june 2001 and I think it is a great place to work out. I would if they had some other "meathead" stuff but all in all I like it a lot.

LA Fitness in Woodbury. It's ok for the money. They need to get towel service though. I can't believe how many people don't have the common decency to wipe down a machine after they sweat all over it. I need to start bringing wet naps in addition to my towel :(

I go to the Foothill Ranch 24 Hour on the way to work.

Irvine Spectrum is actually more on my way to work, but the mens locker room in the morning is often over crowded and heated like a sauna. By the time I walk out, I am covered in sweat.

Tip on signing up. The 3 year plan is a great deal, only $99 a year after the 3 year no due period is up. I signed up in Newport Beach and they would not budge and I paid over $800. A friend of mine signed up in a bad neighborhood and paid only $500. So look a little on the needy side and go to a 24 Hour in a lesser location and you might save a bunch of money.

Even with the over paying a bit, I have got my moneys worth many times over.

Walter, we did the 3-year deal as well. My husband travels all over the west coast and he uses a 24-hr fitness in almost every state. It's a great deal and they have gyms near almost every hotel where he stays.

To those who want to join - definately negotiate. Walk away if they don't take the deal. They will call you back. In fact, they will call, and call, and call. So, if you don't want them to call you - then don't give them your number. They will harrass the you until you tell them to stop calling (even then they will continue to call).

I plan on asking 24h about memberships, I'll let you know what I find.

[quote author="gwailo168" date=1213861996]Is anyone here a frequent visitor at Culver 24hour?

I wonder if I've ever seen anyone from the board at the gym...</blockquote>

I've been reading the board for a while but just registered today. Seems like quite a few are going to the 24 on Culver. I'm there pretty much Mon-Friday around 4:30 to maybe 6pm.

And as for the cost, my membership costs me $30 a year. I can just barely swing it after covering my IAC rent :)

Are there any good hole-in-the-wall gyms? I get major claustrophobia when I walk into a huge 24 hour. Plus there are so many juicers with bad form it drives me crazy. I like gyms where you can walk in with flip flops and just hang out and get your workout in without having to look trendy.

People that walk around with a bottle of pineapple-orange-strawberry juice.

j/k

juicers = steroid meat heads with pea-sized testicles and future dailysis patients

LOL. Thanks for the clarification. We have some of those types in cycling, too. We call them dopers though.

You should join us for a ride. Do you have a road bike or a MTB?

Both of course! And a beach cruiser for when I go riding with my partner Mr. New Belgium.

LMAO! You and your partner are welcome to join the 7 C's on our rides. You'd fit right in. Although, I prefer the hoppy brews.
