There are a lot of makes/model that show up to PCA track events...I got my buddies with their E92 M3s to come out.  PCA also has some of the best instructors for the novice groups too.

I go out to a track event once every 4-6 weeks during non-summer periods (too hot to track in summer and I busiest in the summer).  I have an assistant so she can cover for me in a pinch if I'm at the track.

Sounds great!  My wife wants me to get a track car as my next car (she's very unrealistic about finances...  ::) ), after the S4's lease (couple years left).  It would be a good idea to get some track time before I get something more track oriented than the S4.  Now gotta start looking for helmets.

I figured cheaper house = more money for cars.

How did you find a wife like that!  You lucky SOB. :)

I agree with you on that but I have to be home right after the event and this will be the closest :)
Very true, it's only about 40-45 minutes away if you take the toll road.  Wish the other tracks were closer.  SIGH

You sir are a lucky man to have a wife that doesn't mind you having a track car.  haha  Here's the link to the PCA San Diego event at Chuckwalla...

They run a tight ship (in terms of not tolerating with idiots on the track) and are very reasonably priced.  I believe that they offer instructors for the novice/student group (which is included in the fee) so take advantage of it.  You do not have to be a PCA member to register.  The closest hotel to the track is the Hotel Inn Express off the 10 in Indio.

hahaha, she's definitely a keeper as long as I manage to keep her away from Carl's bad outlet, South coast plaza and all her online stores such as Haute look, 6PM, etc...  :'(

If anyone's interested, I'll be at the Autoclub Speedway on the 20th.  There are still slots open :)

Subiefest?  Pass!

@OP  - I hope you know I was joking about the Bentley.  That car is owned by some early 20 year old guy.

S4 has so much potential if Audi wasn't lazy and had noticeable body work to separate the A4 from the S4.  I just saw an S4 and couldn't tell it was an S4 really besides the badge.  Maybe I am biased against Audi... There are 2 S5s within a couple houses, but I just can't get into them.

I wanted to relive my high school life so I got a beater/toy car.  My wife never really cared when I got it.  Now, she is complaining that it just sits in the garage and it's ugly and she's embarrassed to ride in it...haha.  Luckily, it was really cheap to buy so it's not really an issue.

LOL I really thought you are the owner of that Bentley.

I agree on the S4, an A4 with Sport line option looks very similar to the S4.

I like the S4's subtle, sleeper look. I'm very happy with mine as it has LSD (limited slip differential) and ADS (adaptive damping suspension).  Driving it in its most hardcore setting with traction control off is great yet returns 10mpg.  :o

Good news for BMW and high performance driving fans here, the BMW is going to open BMW Performance Center here in Southern California.  Time to sign up for that M Performance School. :)

BMW of North America today announced the opening of the new BMW Performance Center West, the company?s permanent performance driver training facility located in Southern California.  A dedicated road course and training facility just a few minutes outside of La Quinta, California.

Opening in late 2014, the BMW Performance Center West will offer the full complement of performance driving courses for which the BMW Performance Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina has been renowned since 1999. These include the BMW M Schools as well as the BMW Teen Driving Schools.

I had a B8 S4 Avant 6MT a few years back when we were DINKs.  Ordered the car exactly the way I wanted it, and loved it.  Had the car for 3 years, had 18k miles on it before someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse.  I drive a Golf TDI now, night and day difference, going from 12MPG to 35MPG on my drive to work.  I still miss that big V8, but need to be more sensible now with kids.

Audi S hasn't been competing with BMW M or AMGs for a while now.  The ostensious body kit and big engine is RS territory now.

Yours was probably the B7 (4.2L V8) as they did away with the V8 on B8 (3.0L V6 Supercharged) and B8.5 (3.0L V6 Supercharged).

Even though they dropped the V8, the V6 is just as bad in fuel consumption.  :(

Currently Audi S takes on the market Mercedes and BMW are very new at, and the Audi's answer to AMG and BMW M is the RS models.

With the new C-Class, Mercedes has already come out with the C300, C400 and they just announced the C63 AMG and to take on the Audi S4, they're bringing a C450 which is a more powerful C400 with a dash of AMG.  BMW and Porsche (rumored to come out with a C-Class and 3 series competitor) are also working on more models to muddy up the segment.

I like the Golf TDI, but am more fond of the Jetta wagon TDI.  I like wagons and if one day Audi brings back the S4 Avant to US I'll have a very hard time deciding against it.  8)

Maybe you should race against Paris.  ;)

Anytime....Anywhere. I love a good race as long as my babies are safe at home. Can we postpone it until I get my M6 next year though  ;D

In all honesty if any of you are planning to purchase a German car brand new you must do euro delivery. Best decision ever...it's an amazing time.

I agree! Did Euro Deliveries for my M3's when I had them.  Fun experience!

Paris- Let's race... We'll start at Portola/Culver... Go down Culver and first one to reach Boiling Point and get a seat for 2 wins?
