What do the experts think?

I don't know a lot about midcentury modern, but it certainly is a nice one.

The listing says the current owner is an architect, and IMO he has done an excellent job keeping the home period correct and tastefully decorated in a style that is consistent with mid century modern.

I like it, but I'd never live there because I'm sure the Mrs. would shoot it down for structural reasons.
 
Flat roofs are generally a bad idea. Water gets trapped up there and soaks the roof. It causes all kinds of problems. BK would say the same, and in fact I know he has. Maybe there are exceptions if designed with a slight slope, but I wouldn't be too hopeful on that.
 
I love MCM, but not that one. Too much like a mosoleum with all that concrete. I like the warmer wood beams and exterior of the other orange tracts of MCM much more.

plus, wtf with the doubling of price in 8 years?
 
Beautiful home, but not my style. And I will never again own a home with a flat roof. All flat roofs have some slope to them, and they still leak.

This must be WTF MCM week. Here's another MCM priced at 1.495 in Fullerton that just came on the market. Purchased in 2003 for $770,000.

Hey even have the 70s light show, I hope a disco ball is included with the property. haha The price is about $500k too high.

That one's a very stylish money-pit Eva. In every corner. I don't know if you've gotten to peruse the inside, but while showing it I got the unearthly feeling like I'd seen it somewhere before... with Stanley Kubrick.

That bad, huh? That's unfortunate. It seems (from the pics - haven't seen the inside) that it could have been interesting. It's in contract now, so hopefully the new buyer will be able to make something of it.
 
I went to the estate sale at that house last summer, and I didn't think it was scary. It was very much a time capsule of late 60s/early 70s OC. I spent a long time walking around and studying all the details left behind, like a Re-elect Nixon sticker stuck in a bedroom closet. I kind of enjoyed soaking in the atmosphere because the house reminded me of my parents' friends' houses when I was very young. Felt like finding something long lost.

I didn't realize the square footage was so large; guess because the sale was packed with people and sale items. Maybe it seems scary when it's not full of people. It did feel like there should have been another bedroom. The public areas of the house are vast--good party spaces.

Those old kitchen cabinets looked to be in good condition, but the aisle around the island felt narrow (again, crowded that day). There was white terrazzo flooring around the house in good condition too. There is a little room between the kitchen and side yard that has a pantry, a built-in desk, and laundry. Oh man, that room really took me back. That was a woman's home office pre-PC. Lots of yellow.

I don't know why the house affected me so much, but I wished I could bottle some part of it and take it with me. Contented myself with a bolt of fabric left behind by the former lady of the house. She also left some 70s shopping receipts. She liked hats and purses and shopped at I. Magnin.
