Attention immigrants and investors from Communist countries:

You know that question on the US permanent resident and citizenship application that asks if you are or were ever a member of or associated with the communist party?  If you checked "no" and it turns out you are or were a communist, you will be fined and imprisoned for perjury.

This PRC immigrant who lied about his prior membership in the Chinese Communist Party on his US citizenship application just got fined $20k and jail and possible loss of citizenship and deportation:

By law if a person had been a member of the communist party or affiliated organization (youth league, worker's union, etc), they are not allowed to apply for Green Card unless if their affiliation had been terminated purposely or de facto inactivity for at least 5 years.

You'd also need to be have been a green card holder for at least 5 years before applying for naturalization, so in effect your party affiliation need to have ended at least 10 years prior.

Having worked as an agent for the Ministry of State Security would probably put him on the exclusion list.
