So many of my good friends who have kids are giving me the advice to travel as much as i can before we start to have kids of our own. My wife and I haven't had a vacation in a long ,long time and planning on going somewhere special between Nov/Dec time frame. Does any body have any recommendations on some great vacationing spots they've been to in the past year? My wife and I like the carribeans (Cancun, Bahamas), cruises, beach scenes, and all inclusive resorts. I've managed to rack up about 200,000 points on my hilton honors card since i never use it. Any great vacationing spots you can recommend to Panda? The cheaper the better!!!

Do you want to vacation or travel? You mention all inclusive resorts and everday destinations. Would you be up for some adventure as well as beautiful setting?

Oh, Yeah!

I was surprised how much I liked an Alaskan cruise. Its relaxing and peaceful yet some cool stuff to do on excursions. Also, what about Hawaii?

If you can travel the first and second weekend of December, Hawaii is an absolute ghosttown. Then again, so is everywhere else. It's a great time to travel.

How about your dream place IRVINE. The Pelican Hills resort will have its grand opening in December. Oops! Your Hilton points won't work there.

I actually did the Newport Coast Villas Time Share Promotional offer two years ago. It was like $199 for four days and three nights at an Ocean View suite. Other than the fact the sales lady trying to sell you timeshare for an hour, it was really nice.

I heard some of the all inclusive resorts in Cancun are really nice. The weather must be beautiful in December. Anybody been on any cruises lately?

There are two kinds of vacations: 1. The beach getaway, don't have to think about squat, yes I want another drink before my massage vacation. 2. NYC and other big cities to get in as many museums, shows, clubs, culture, fine dining and hidden gems only to come home to want vacation number 1.

For me, it depends on the moment in the day. I could go either way because I love both. I will say, that I have heard from several people, that you should do Europe before you have kids, and even better while you are still single. But, it sounds like Panda has been working too hard, and Mrs. Panda needs a break at beach where she can quip... oh cabana boy... my mai tai is almost gone. Beach it up Panda, and I would choose Bali just because of the surf spots, but that's just me.

Go to Hawaii. The Duke awaits you....

I always tend to make our/my getaways centered around hobbies or family. I guess it just depends upon what you want to do.

Skek, Good suggestion.

Panda, <a href="http://www.sognefjord.no/en-GB/PortalObject/1282/default.aspx">Go glacier walking in Norway</a>.

Glaciers - chilly! Since moving to California my feet are only flip flop friendly. I think my feet would rebel if I had to put socks on. :P

skek's idea is great! we are going to hawaii this month. big island. but we're not going for lay-at-beach type vacation. we've got ocean kayaking, cliff jumping, and a hike to see active lava flow and a green sand beach planned. i know one day hawaiian vacations are going to consist of wading pools and chicken tenders, instead of secluded waterfalls and exotic cuisine. make your adventures while you can!

the hilton in waikoloa there is really nice.

ACPME, if I can recommend two items for your Big Island vacation: flashlights and umbrellas. You'll need the flashlight when you view the lava flow (best viewing at night) and exploring any old lava tubes. You'll need the umbrellas because it rains a lot on that side of the island. We didn't mind the rain because we were prepared with rain gear and umbrellas. People that weren't prepared looked absolutely cold and miserable.

Have fun! You'll love the Big Island.

There are a lot of <a href="http://www.ocregister.com/news/report-woman-deputies-1802233-disturbance-dispute">vacant houses open for partying </a>these days. If you plan it right, it could be an inexpensive vacay. Oh, but you should probably avoid the pool.
