Vacation Ideas

I'd like to take a vacation sometime soon, so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of where to go. I'm not thinking about a typical relax-in-the-sun type vacation, but some kind of interesting new city to explore. Preferably, one that would be fun and easy to visit with a toddler in tow. Maybe Nashville? Maine? Or get all wild and go Canadian - Montreal?
 
Thanks, IHO. We did NYC a little bit last year, just for a couple of days. Didn't have time to see most of the important stuff so maybe we'll go back this year or next. I do love NYC. I was actually born there, before being transplanted to CA as a child. Deep down, I'm sort of a New Yorker!
