What kind of traditions/superstitions are you aware of (or actually do)?

One of my mom's is whenever you give a purse or a wallet to someone... you have to put money in it. That kind of makes sense as so that the person will always have money.

But there is another one where when you give someone shoes, the recipient has to give you money back. That one is weird.

IHS, do you think the recent news in the O.C. Register about scanning the trash dump for murdered people will make Asian buyers more hesitant about Landfill Ranch? That combines their two superstitions: health concerns and spiritual / burial. (Bowerman landfill news article here:http://www.ocregister.com/news/limas-354293-contreras-police.html)
 
Every morning I open my eyes and see my palms. There is a certain prayer that goes with it too.
IHO- my mom's side follows the same tradition: Money in new purse or wallet.
RKP- Two coconuts, or one? :P
USC- I should make Polish friends!
