Too Fat!

save your money. you will probably use it for 3-6 months and then toss it in the garage. buy a pair of running shoes and go running outside. it is cheaper when you stop using. from my personal experience. hahahahaaa

<p>I love my NordicTrack elliptical crosstrainer. Not as hard on the knees as running. Not as hard on the groin as riding. A little upper body use and similar motion to riding.</p>

I have quite a few Friends who have as-new tread mills, hardly used, I'll ask around if you like.

My advice is to buy one with large Handrails because they make great Clothes Hangers...

Listen to Profette, she's always right...

join a health club (I kind of like 24 hour Sports), it is much more fun to run the treadmill there, you can do people watching at the same time, and there are so many other choices of activities there.

<p>My favorite way to excerise right now is ballroom dance. Believe me you will get the blood pumping and the muscles going. The only down side is that it is going to cost ya a few. Anyways good luck and don't work too hard.</p>

<p>Unless you are already a consistant runner using a treadmill will not last long.</p>

<p>I suggest you find an activity that you think is fun and will most likely stick to it. (Soccer, ballroom dancing, martial arts)</p>

<p>Join a sports league. I play in a roller and ice hockey leagues because if I didn't play in those leagues, I will get absolutely no excercise done. Play a sport that you can enjoy and start from there, and if you have friends who can play with you it'll make the experience all the more fun.</p>

<p>Just remember not to go out to eat or drink after the game like I used to. The Hat was so close, with their pastrami sandwiches.... u get the point.</p>

Nice suggestions. The treadmill is for me and the wife. She's the real runner. I'm trying to get back into it after a little 3-yr layoff (marraige). I'm thinking of getting the Landice L7 model. $3k, but is highly rated. Didn't see any good used ones on Craigslist.

They suggest you a diet based on your weight goal, you can use the Nutrition Tracker and the Fitness Tracker to track, if you want, what you eat and what you exercise. As in engineering say: "You only can improve what is measured", period.

They have web videos, like YouTube videos, of the exercises that they suggest you, like a personal trainer.

You can find other members in your ZIP code, good for finding a partner, or you can subcribe the wife and compete with her..he he. </p>

I bought a refurbished LifeFitness treadmill from these guys: http://www.fitnessoutlet.com/cube/index.php?cat_id=2

I went for a healthclub quality unit, the cheap and lightweight ones will fall apart if you really use it a lot. You can work a discount if you pay hard cash.

For those that haven't experienced the difference running on a treadmill can make on knee and ankle pain compared to pavement pounding, don't knock them. I actually prefer putting it at a steep incline with a walking pace. Great cardio workout with low impact.

<p>I agree with hangpilot. </p>

<p>We have a good quality treadmill for almost ten years now, and it gets used twice a day almost 4-5 times per week (me and hubby). We like to Tivo our favorite shows and them watch them while using the treadmill. The time goes by really quickly when you can watch a TV show that you like. If we forgot to Tivo something, then we walk or run during the main show and sprint during the commercials. It's a nice training exercise (although the commercials seem extra long when you are sprinting. )</p>

<p>We also find it easier on the knees running on the treadmill vs. pavement or concrete. The treadmills at the healthclubs are nice, but sometimes they aren't maintained that well, and you can only stay on them for 20 minutes during busy times.</p>

<p>You can also walk on the treadmill backwards and sideways (works different muscles) and not look like an idiot at the gym. </p>

<p>Good luck finding one. Keep us updated on what you decide to do.</p>

<p><em>You can also walk on the treadmill backwards and sideways (works different muscles) and not look like an idiot at the gym.</em> </p>

<p>More importantly, you can probably do your cardio routine in the amount of time it would take you to drive to the gym and back.</p>
