The Positives

We spend allot of time complaining about Irvine on this blog, but deep down we all know we love it. Let's use the thread to talk about only the positives of irvine and why we are willing to cough up extra dough to live in the unicorn city. I'll start:

Why Stonegate is awesome:

? Open Floorplans
? Proximity to good shopping. (WTC, Irvine Spectrum, The Market Place)
? Excellent Schools
? Close to Irvine business center (Where I work)
? Close to 5, 405, 133 & 241
? Well maintained communities, streets, parks, etc.
? Young families galore

Relatively close to various beaches: Newport, Laguna, Huntington...
Safe city
Lots of Corp HQ. Good chance to find a good and quality position that's close to your home

1.) very well manicured streets... i drive through woodbridge via baranca everyday, if i didnt know any better i wouldnt think there were piles and piles of homes hidden half a block behind those trees... it just amazes me every single time how well they did it...

2.) ppl here arent aggressive drivers at all... i just rev or do a little swivel and theyll let me merge... and those are extreme cases... most of the time simply signaling is enough... lol... ppl here drive albeit slow, but are definitely polite compared to lotta other cities... and the roads are so wide >_< !!!

3.) sam woo / ranch 99... lol

4.) most ppl ive met here and/or neighbors have travel often or have lived outside of CA / USA... i think this makes a big difference to the world view of a community... definitely lot more 3rd culture folks here then i had initially thought...

5.) if u get into an accident, there is a high chance the other guy also has insurance... lol

1. Good schools- it's not just the API, there are others things too. I will share more someday when there is more time. Arcadia schools have great scores too.. but not the same!
2. Planned villages- easy on the eyes.
3. Wider streets, not as congested as Pasadena.
4. Employment opportunities. The guy commuting to Glendale can find himself a job close to Irvine, really, within 10 mins of driving distance :)
5. Weather.
6. Hikes and beaches.
7. Proximity to freeways.

281 days of sunshine per year and not as hot as LA (although some places may be warmer than others eg PS vs SG  :))

West LA is a lot cooler on average than Irvine.  Morning marine layer during summer months aren't unusual, and the breeze are usually cooler.

Everything you guys have stated... plus the wife (a Mandarin speaker) loves Irvine because she wouldn't need to learn and speak English!

1. Irvine PD escorts the homeless to Lake Forest and Tustin
2. Strict HOA's prevent the Chinese turning Irvine into Arcadia with these awful gaudy looking houses.
3. With all the houses looking the same, hard for a burglar to specifically target you.
4. Rarely any potholes in the streets.
5. The only Walmart I've ever been to where the entire parking lot is Mercedes, BMW and Lexus.  My Camry is considered the poor mans car in the parking lot.

I have never seen so many Indians in Irvine until I went to a Walmart at the Spectrum location.  ;D

How come there are no large Indian supermarkets like the ones we have here in Irvine by the Koreans (H-Mart, Zion, Assi) and 99 Ranch by the Chinese or Japanese Mitsuwa? I like to see a large selection of curry sauces or powders!  :-*

I thought Garden Patch at the Marketplace is Indian.
