I think that this article just reiterates the point that whatever "economic recovery" might look like when it happens, it won't look like our booms of yesteryear. There just isn't the money for people to display their supposed opulence like there was during the HELOC days. An economic recovery might mean that people start going out to dinner a bit more, buying a few more clothes or other items, NOT remodeling their shacks, buying boats and luxury cars. It's a new day.
