The Boiling Crab (Santa Ana)

So they finally opened one closer to Irvine... and unfortunately for The Kickin' Crab... right next to them (literally across the street):

The Boiling Crab

1500 W Macarthur Blvd
Santa Ana, CA 92704
(714) 979-2722http://www.theboilingcrab.com/

We went there and it was a totally different experience than the one in Garden Grove... mostly because there was no hour long line. And, since it just opened, there was plenty of space on the walls for the IHO family to practice their graffiti skills (look for the small red 'www.talkirvine.com' in the waiting room).

This was similar to the other BCs, Cajun-type seafood boiled in a bag and ending up in huge mess by the end of the meal. If you don't like eating with your hands... you should go to Joe's Crab Shack or The Crab Cooker instead.

Yelp said it does get crowded on some nights... but usually lunchtime isn't that bad (lunchtime wait at the GG BC is bad if you don't show up right when they open).

Wow, this is great to know. Thanks! We like the ones in Garden Grove, but really hate the long waiting line. Now, nice to have a one close by and no waiting. Would give it a try this week. Thanks!
