Tech @ Work

Love the place.  We had an annual family membership that's expired now.  The next time we go, we'll probably get another annual membership.  We've gone enough to make up the cost difference.

yup... make sure to get the App...

Valid from 3pm - 6pm only?

Shoot... didn't see that, 3-6 works great for us anyways... if you never been, the place is great, you can blow through the place in under one hour or linger all day long...
Speaking of... the Sea Life one near Legoland... not worth it to us... you can see the whole thing in 30 minutes. You're better of at SeaWorld.

I've got almost every piece of information I can think of, besides, credit card numbers, and pet names...

If someone is gonna be collecting information anyways, may as well be Google...

How to Turn Your Tablet into an Awesome, Productivity-Boosting Second Screenhttp://lifehacker.com/5869452/how-t...n-awesome-productivity+boosting-second-screen

Great article on how to use your smartphone or tablet as a productivity device along with your PC at work...

Some really good suggestions as delegating your mobile devices for stuff other than "work"...

So yeah, I certainly have both the G-Nex and the Desire both on my desk at all times... both plugged in both sync perfectly...

I do have a -Private- browser open on the PC for gmail, reader, calendar and such, but I have been using the G-Nex for strictly txt messages, some reading news and note taking...

The Desire still for Google Talk, Google Voice, Skype, G+ Messaging, Web Surfing, listening to Podcast/Music and Movies... I have on mic-earphones for calls and listening...

The PC, still handles most of my work data-base, work calls; I try not to do much personal things on the PC but it does handle my torrent downloads...

I love it, everything is Dropbox & Bitcasa synced across all devices and platforms; nothing is on local storage...

Teamviewer saved my butt again the other night when I had to type up a quote while driving home...

At the end of the day, the Desire stays plugged in and the G-Nex takes over all mobile functions; I get an extra few hours on the way home and evening to shoot email, and listen to podcast & music, but somehow I'm still reluctant to take advantage of the bigger screen to watch movies... just like things quick and simple, still...

Different devices for different functions... all working together like a well oiled machine...

I can understand taking advantage of technology.  I love tech too.  But could you handle shutting off and go for a camping trip?  and not constantly keep checking your phone if you have service?

I totally hear you... I don't check if I have service... (often...) no I really don't, I get home and I almost always plug the phone in and away for the evening... I do jump on the PC at home for no more than 10-15 minutes; and Sunday is our -no tech- day... I do carry the phone around, but try not to do anything on it... I usually can still get like 60% battery left at the end of the day, and that says a lot for being a 4G-LTE phone...

I do take a lot of pictures on Sunday tho...

here is another great article from Lifehacker... man where has this site been all my life...?

I had to make myself stop getting on the computer when I get home so that I could spend as much time with my kids as possible before they sleep.

looks like I'm more or less stuck in the office now... I certainly don't regret or take my "self-employed" days for granted...  I'm so glad I got to spend the first 2.5 year of my son's life at home, on my own schedule...

the wife takes off for the gym as soon as my foot hits the door; and I still get the entire night routine to myself; it's at least a good 3 hours of quality time a day, if we are watching Cars or Magic School Bus or something, I at least watch it with him... and yes, I do ask him questions about the thing we are watching, I'm not just on-line or doing other things on the phone...

I do notice, the kid is almost 3 now, that if I do need to be on-line at home, he is at a point now where he can play quietly but still totally likes me to be by his side... the kid drags my butt off the computer in mid-sentence sometimes, and I finish the email on the phone...

So, it's a freedom that I do not abuse...  I have trained most clients who call in to text me or just leave an order on the voice mail...  most still remember the kid crying in the middle of a conversation while trying to dictate a thousand dollar order...

I hope I can continue the night routine into childhood indefinably, it's a special time I try to protect; I don't know how things will change, but the day I stop giving the kid his baths is the day, RC would be crying on his keyboard...

Love doing more and more on Google...

Monday Morning Wake-Up

Driving down the 60 ? Check

Doing about 90 mph ? Check

Weaving in and out of the sleepy Asians commuting to work ? Check

All the windows rolled down ? Check

Left arm completely extended, playing with wind - Check

Have music blasting ? Oasis ? Slide Away ? Check

Singing at the top of my lungs to music ? Check

Feeling the love of God ? Check

Thinking how much I love my wife & family ? Check

Walking in to work with a buzz in my ear, hands still shaking and huge grin on my face; while everyone else has the Monday Blues - Check

Cheap shot... I don't have time to get into it... but this makes me want to use Google Apps even more now...

I love Google Apps.

The only problem is their free service went from 200 to 100 to 50 and now to only 10 users... so it's only for home/SMB use. You need to pay $5 per month per account (or $50 per year) for the business version and that's pretty steep.
