I'm assuming the teacher is female, and wants to start teaching traditional gender roles early on (or is in oblivious idiot territory)?
My Grandmother used to tell the story of one of her aunts whom hated doing dishes. So much so that after a large dining party she would let the dirty china collect underneath the house and go purchase a new set.

In Theory, one person does the cooking and the other does the dishes. We don't have any slave labor (children not yet old enough to revolt) so we try to split chores evenly. However, we don't live in theory and since my early retirement went permanent, I do most of the dishes and most of the day-to-day cooking. My wife puts away the clean dishes from the dishwasher in the morning and any pots and pans that were left to dry in the dish rack. I also do the grocery shopping, vaccuum, hose down the bathrooms, and take out the trash. Right now, I am sitting at the dealership getting our car serviced while back home a pork roast cooks in the crockpot.
Back when we first bought the house, we had a small dust up about the dishwasher which ended with an education for my wife on the proper way to load one, as well as a piece by piece explanation of what does and does NOT go in one. To date, we haven't sacrificed a single plate, glass, or plastic item to the Dishwasher Gods, nor have we clogged up the drain. You're not the only one with appliance OCD.
I can feed the baby
Grease the car
and powder my face at the same time
Lie down at 5
Jump up at 6
And do it all over again

I have major appliance OCD, too. Dishes go in the dishwasher a certain way (or not at all) . We're approaching one year in our house and I don't think my boyfriend has loaded or unloaded the dishes more than five times. It used to bother me until I realized that I was more bothered when he did load or unload the dishwasher. There's nothing worse than looking for something when I'm in a hurry to prep food and I can't find it.

My friend has a daughter in Kindergarten. She said this week the class was doing a unit on jobs. Today they talked about doctors and nurses. The teacher had all the girls make nurses' hats and all the boys made doctors' hats. (She was really blown away when she found out.)

Someone bought my daughter some "Future Doctor" mini-scrubs because my wife is a doctor. They are blue - the pink ones being sold were "future nurse"...
Every time someone sees her and says, "Oh, is she going to be a nurse when she grows up??", I have to restrain my wife from punching them.
Also, my wife gets called a nurse all the time at work...solely because she's female.

Argh! We really need a dislike button! Strom, we had similar problems looking for Future Doctor sets in pink- I found ours on Amazon at last.

Nude, didn't you know we are all Stepford wives who do everything- ten years ago we had an upgrade on our systems- apart from the regular chores, we take part in internet discussions on a daily basis now- Of course we do it only when we are either on our employer's time, or when we have curlers in our hair
Brings up the question: Who does the dishes in your house? I end up doing them anyway in our house. Partly because I have to intervene when the dishwasher is declared full with handful of dishes and space optimization is not according to my standards. Same goes for stuffing up the fridge. Everyone in the house seem to think that the fridge is full while I see space...

I load them and the kids unload them and McHusband creates them. LOL But in all fairness to hubby, he is more pressed for time ,than I, due to his MBA program and job. I'm sure if the schedules were reversed he'd take on the role of housekeeper too. Nah, who am I kidding, he'd bribe my daughter to do them in my absence.Cubic Zirconia said:

When I was growing up, I thought that it was actually the man's job to do the dishes... since the wife cooks, the man cleans. At our house, we rotated between my dad and myself... mom never did dishes.
Nowadays I have no idea who does what... but I can tell you this... the wife will almost never take out the garbage, walk the dog or kill bugs around the house.

Re: questions about the teacher -- she didn't say if the teacher is male or female, but I'd assume female as well... actually I just re-read the e-mail and it's teachers (plural), so more than one thought this was a good idea. No idea of the teachers' ages. Yes, she wants to speak to the teachers about this.
