Stopped by Zion market on a Sunday afternoon.. what a zoo.. it was chaos in the produce section.. it was a diverse crowd too.. overheard chinese, japanese, korean, farsi, urdu... gotta give it to the koreans for cheap fruit... box of mangoes (#18) for $3...
 
PS9, how did you find out about the Mangrate grills?  Why did you end up buying them?  Just curious because I'm thinking about picking them up for my gas built-in BBQ.

and thought it would be worth trying out..the mangrates reminds me of this old korean bbq place my family go to when i was a kid.. cast iron grills.. tons of smoke but also tons of flavor... the mangrates did not disappoint... so far the family approves of all the food I cooked on it so far.. 

At first I thought it would be mainly for burgers and steaks.. but the mangrates is actually great for smaller meats as well.. the tapered grooved surface prevents food from falling through the grill.. and the smoke adds a lot of flavor.. definitely pick up at least two mangrates and a brush... i'm thinking of getting a third to completely fill up my grill...

I see the shell and head are on the shrimp. That reminds me. Don't you guys hate it when you go to a restaurant thinking they are going to serve them peeled and they're not? Just so you know, this happens to be one of my biggest fears on this earth - shrimp legs! I just can't help it. One time I went on a date and ordered the shrimp skewers. They came with legs. I was so creeped out, I had to have Mr. SoCal take them all off for me by hand before I could go near the plate. Thank God he was there. I don't know what I would have done otherwise. But then there was the pile of shrimp legs to contend with. He had to have the waiter take them away. Now I don't order the shrimp unless my man is there to do the dirty work just in case.
 
Squid and octopus are one of my favorite foods, I took off the body portion and tossed that, and just grilled the bottom legs/tentacles.  Very tasty, used the teriyaki sauce that I'll never finish from Costco for marinade.

I grill the shrimps till the shell is crispy, snap the top part of the head off and try to maintain the orange fatty part and eat the whole shrimp, shell and all, minus the tail.  You can peel the shrimp, but all the smokiness from the bbq is in the shell.  The legs are crispy and has a great flavor to them. :)

BTW, don't ever go to those Viet/Cajun places, they got shrimp legs everywhere!
 
SoCal, Ps9 will tell you too the best part of the shrimp is the pregnant mommy shrimp. The eggs are the yummiest and so is the milky green brain juice from the head.

I don't think shrimp can get pregnant. I think they lay eggs.

However, I also did not know shrimp had a head or legs until I was an adult. Until then, I thought the peeled shrimp with tail and no head was the whole animal. The prepared shrimp is usually how it is sold in stores (even raw) and in restaurants. Buying fresh shrimp off a shrimp boat in the the Gulf of Mexico was an eye-opening experience. I didn't think it was really shrimp.  :-\

You must have come from Costco. You need to buy one of those plans at LR with the wok room option so you can do the lobster ginger and green onion style.

Split the tail down the middle to create the flat surface for grilling, brush olive oil, salt pepper, lemon juice

$1 pork loin from ranch 99, McCormicks Montreal steak mix

Lobster came out really good, juicy not dried out ( keeping the shell on helps), squeeze some lemon on top, smoky and delicious.  Used low heat, mangrate helped as the grill was able to cook the lobster without drying out, pork loin was decent, cheap meat, almost got cross grill marks (probably could've with higher heat, but didn't want to chance it with the tails.
