Summer is almost here, time to replace the grill...

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I notice it's the cover that seems to wear out more than the grill itself.  It gets holes and the rope that binds the cover at the bottom deteriorates so that the bottom doesn't cinch any more.

Same here... not matter which kinds you get.

I should just get a giant plastic box to put over it.

We used to use our gas hook-up until that last earthquake a few years ago made the line from the house to the build-in leak. Now we use a stand-alone with a propage tank we bought from Costco but got filled elsewhere.

I just exchange tanks.

So for natural gas from the house, you need a different connector, right?  I think it's a different size and pressure or something?  I think that propane and natural gas from your home line use different adapters?

So this will be my first propane grill, where does everyone refill their tanks?  Just bought the 20lb tank at costco, does one tank last the summer if we have 4-5 bbqs?

I want to try the beer can chicken, is it worth it?  Takes about 2hrs from online recipes.

As for covers, also picked up one from Costco for $19,  seems heavy duty, so hopefully it won't fly away during Santa Ana's.

So nice to have a built-in viking grill connected to the house gas line.  It does need a good cleans and all of the grill grates, warming racks, and guards have to be replaced.  I need to buy a matching viking under counter fridge to fill the hole that they left but damn it's not cheap ($2,700).

Beer In The Rear. Hehe. I would definitely try it. Gets rave reviews. The time could be less, depending.

I used to fill my tanks too when it was new.  After a while, I just did the swap.  They're usually in decent condition and they repaint and put a new label on them.

that was fast shipping.. heaviest small package I've ever received.. gonna try it this weekend.. got some prime ribeye ready for grilling

ps9, I like how your brush says "MANGRATE". Just catching up with this thread, thought I would add some thoughts.  I just go to Home Depot to exchange my tanks.  It's close and fast.

For the rabid, obsessive carnivores on here, I have a vendor recommendation for beef.  I was turned on to Bryan Flannery's beef awhile back on another board and never looked back.  Bryan is located in northern CA and ships his beef all over the US.  I'm gonna be a little immodest and say I know my beef and have tried a ton of different butchers and stores.  Bryan's stuff just flat out kills.  BEST. DAMN. STEAK. EVER.  It's pricey for sure, and you need some forethought cuz he usually 2 day airs it for free, or you can pay extra for overnight.  My recs are the rib cap and Jorge's cut ribeye which is this crazy 3" ribeye where you literally need 2 pairs of tongs to flip it.  Effin great stuff.

I have no affiliation with Bryan Flannery, just a satisfied customer, blah, blah, blah.  Just like to spread the word of great vendors.  I recommend you call him directly to see what he has and bypass the website.

I haven't ordered mine yet but will today. You purchased the coupon from the link right PS9?

I used this coupon
http://www.discountcoupons.com/deal.htm?couponid=1347

but the previous link should work as well.. price should be the same otd for two grills and a brush at $45...  so you buy the coupon first and get the code.. then you go to
http://www.mangrate.com/OrderJump.aspx

and input the coupon code you just bought...  you can purchase additional grills and brush at a discount.. so in the end, the price is the same regardless of the coupon you started with.. Amazon had it at $75.. so this is a decent deal..

Seasoning the new mangrates

Han's market marinated ribeye

db21f3e7.jpg

Hard to see, but nice grill marks, meat not the best for mangrates, tends to fall apart, too tender, but man was it tasty

Also grilled some frozen turkey burgers, picked up the smokiness from the pulgogi residue, juicy and tasty.

Wish I knew bout Han's market earlier, love their marinade, more sweet then salty (unlike most korean supermarket's fare), the bone-in short rib from Han's market should come out nice with the mangrates.  The extra sugar in the marinade caramelized deliciously.
