Stimulus for the construction industry

At the time I started this thread, I hadn't read the article behind the link, I only skimmed it.  Now that I have read it, it has turned from a "wow, that sucks" reaction to an "this is an outrage" kind of article.  The following quote did it for me:

Southern members of Congress have sought to make it easier to sue Chinese manufacturers and to get the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help homeowners pay for costs not covered by insurance.

Great, if you suffered economic damages from shoddy materials used in construction, you should be able to sue the manufacturer of those materials.  You probably should also be able to sue the contractor who purchased those materials.  But what does FEMA have to do with any of this?  Our tax dollars shouldn't be used to try to make people whole for any of life's unlucky breaks.

This is a great time too be down on your luck, good chance the govt will help you out. Its kind of like being unlucky (ie unemployed) and lucky (getting all sorts of govt help via you and me) at the same time.

Unless, of course, you are a small business owner who is down on your luck.  In that case the present administration is looking at you to finance all of these generous socialist schemes.

Big government only has love for home owners, whether you are a poser or not. Why is there no federal money for to subsidize renters when they lose their jobs? Why no incentives for landlords to forgive past dues on rent? Why is there no federal program to modify my lease agreement because now I feel it is too expensive? I want my share of my hardworking neighbor's tax dollars.

/end sarcasm
