Size of grout lines for bathroom/shower tiles

I'll be fully remodeling my bathrooms in the new home and wanted to get input on the size of the grout lines that I should go with.  In my Irvine home I installed 24x12 tiles on the floor and shower/tub walls with a 1/8 inch grout line (see picture below).  In the new house I'll be installing 24x12 tiles on the floor and do 3x6 subway tiles on the shower/tub walls.  Should I go with 1/8 inch grout lines for both the floor tiles and the shower/tub walls?  Or go with a 1/16 inch grout line on either or both?

If you are able to do 1/16" grout line, do it since thinner grout line looks better and probably less maintenance.  However, not all porcelain tile can be done with grout line thinner than 1/8", maker sure to double check with the tile manufacture's grout line recommendation.

i would go with 1/8 grout lines.

regardless of groutline size, you need multiple niches in the bathroom. I see you had that rookie niche :-)

we didnt have a a niche and that was one of the reasons we redid our master bath. we have three now. the top 2 are 12 inches tall and there is a 4 inch gap between each niche. the bottom niche is 4 inches. and whenever possible push back the enclosure so you have a little bench.

Definitely recommend the niches and bench in the shower.

Epoxy grout is much more stain resistant, but is more expensive and tougher to install.

Yeah I was reading about epoxy grout.  I decided to go with 1/16th grout lines so hopefully that'll make the install of the grout easier too.

I just stumbled across this thread and saw the 2 bathroom pictures and they look lovely!

What is the material of your shower wall tiles?
Are they natural stone  / travertine / or porcelain?
