Short Vegas trip & report

Wow, sportsbooks require paid admission? Is that the norm everywhere?

I've probably done better on sportsbooks than any other form of gambling in Vegas. It's a great way to stay entertained for hours while capping your potential losses.
Same here LL - I used to love the parlays at March Madness. Totally different scene now. Going in 2 weeks for AWS re:Invent so I'll post my observations and experience when back.

Ironically I think Vegas was more equitable and enjoyable when it was run by the mob instead of the corporations now.

Yes, the era of free drinks (which only marginally exists now) and cheap eats, with almost free lodging certain times of the year was a fantastic time. I was fortunate to be in my 20's when that still existed and you could have a great weekend for not much money.

I think the Indian tribes have really hurt business in Vegas. Gambling addicts don't have to drive as far now. It seems like the casinos never fully recovered from the GFC and the closure of mom n' pop owned places, combined with consolidation of the bigger ones, has eliminated most of the good deals.
