There's an interesting column in the Financial Times by Micahel Gordon, head of fixed income at Fidelity International, where he takes the IMF to task. He points out that, "...domestic US capital is shifting abroad. Better-performing US mutual funds are increasing off-shore allocations, with B of A suggesting US outflows into offshore bonds and equities could be as much as $290bn this year." Importantly, "Sovereign wealth funds are vehicles that are long on capital at a time when developed western markets seem suddenly short of it..."
