Same Day Edit (SDE) - Joyce and Raymond

Have any of you seen some of the Same Day Edit's that are being done lately? I had never heard of an SDE until only recently.

From <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wedding_videography#Types_of_Video_Productions">Wikipedia</a>: <em>Same Day Edit: (Also called a wedding day edit or wedding encore presentation) A short video produced from the footage of the wedding shot earlier in the day, usually only incorporating footage from pre-ceremony, ceremony and post ceremony, that is then showed at the reception as a recap of the wedding.</em>

One of our members recently got married and this is a little video that was shown at their reception (the same day!). He has agreed to let me post it here:

Beautiful wedding and what a great video!

beautiful video and an accurate representation of a delicate balance of East meets West. Western hospitality with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony to the elders.

Setting was at the Wentworth Hotel in Oak Knoll bordering San Marino in the heart of Pasadena.

The painting in the lobby is a French Barbizon painting from 1850's depicting the elegance of natural light in landscape. The painting utilising the very first Plein Air technique accomplished a painting in just several hour restricted by the window of light span.

At the bridge inserted in the half timber beams of the covered bridge were glazed fresco depicting what?

Another BK trivia to test the cultural intellect of IHB members. I will select from members postings and insert pop quiz like this one.

For those who enjoys the beautiful pictures depicted in this and other trivia posts and have no idea that such a setting is only less than a hour drive from Irvine. Besides the Staple Center and the Hollywood sign Los Angeles is filled with many other beautiful landmarks.

Woodbury has its Club House Wedding.

San Marino has its Wentworth Hotel Wedding.

Both were documented well.

IHBers, this is perfect place for a stayaction. You could visit the Huntington Library, Norton Simon, and Old Pasadena in a weekend. Bk, I think you would be the perfect person to start a stayaction thread.

Okay... pause for a minute from the BK's trivia challenge 2.0.

That video is f*cking awesome! While it may be professional, it was most likely friend's of the family/wedding party. Please, correct me if I am wrong on that. From an artistic point of mind, it not only is visually pleasing, but the scenes are perfectly queued to the music. I don't want to ever have a video of my wedding for the fear that it will be the same quality that aunt Gertrude could do on her own, but this surpasses that beyond belief and I would be willing to hire them in heartbeat.

Joyce and Raymond, congrats on your wedding. Not only for having it at a BK approved location, but for sharing your amazing video. It rocks! The music is a great choice, and the video is phenomenal in conveying what you experienced. Love the red envelope exchange, and I'm just a cracker.

I had to DL Metric's album because of you too.

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've been here but thank you for all the kind words and I'm happy to see so many familiar names still lurking IHB. Imagine my surprise when Zovall asked to post our SDE.

Joyce and I had flew down a couple of cinematographers from Toronto and Seattle to film our wedding. Just as graphix said, we wanted something different than what uncle Joe could've shot. There was no script to follow. Everyone showed up at 8am and we let the day unfold on its own. I didn't even know what song StillMotion had picked for the SDE until they played it 12 hours later. Needless to say, I can't wait to see the main featured film and highlights in a couple of weeks. Graphix, you should definitely hire them. It was worth every penny!

bkshopr, as always, your depth of knowledge in time, culture and of course, real estate, never ceases to amaze me. By the way, I think I've seen Hantien and Blythe's pictures on a photographer's blog a while ago. It was a beautiful set of wedding photos.

Great video... SDEs are awesome. I remember the first time I saw one a few years ago and I was amazed by how fast they put it together. But this one just blows that one away.

My friends tend to use this guy who makes movie parodies for the wedding reception videos... they've done Star Wars, James Bond and some others... quite entertaining and shows the couple in a different light.

So did you do a choreographed first dance number?

I went to the MindCastle website shortly after seeing it. They really have an artistic eye, but you will pay for it. 2-3 times the normal cost of photo and video for a wedding. Some of the engagement sessions are particularly outstanding.

Raymond,

I watched it 12 times and it is by far one of the best I've seen. Over the years I've researched landmark Hotels but none of the SoCal hotels have this type of Panoramic Drama. Hotel Gazebo wedding near the ocean is becoming such a cliche it is nice to see a different perspective where the background is not a generic ocean.

The drama with surprising landmarks such as the Picture Bridge and Asian Garden were very unique and the slight red accent helps to unite East and West. The bird eye perspective of your guests also hinted your upper floor room location and it tells a story of the setting. Older Chinese guests often do not dress properly for the occasion so the top view shot de-emphasized their attire.
