This is a small hole in the wall place, across the street from Marukai Pacific in Gardena. Family owned and operated since 1962, they only sell 5-6 kinds of sushi in a sushi box. They're 6 days a week until 6pm (5pm on Sundays), closed Mondays. This is a TAKE OUT ONLY shop.
If you're looking for large pieces of fish on top of nigiri sushi, this is not the place. As matter of fact the saba and ebi are sliced so thin, I'm not even sure how they sliced them. You're basically buying a big rice ball with thin slice of fish or shrimp on top, along with cut rolls.
BUT the taste is authentic like your Japanese friend's grandmother made it. @_@ It's like you can taste the warmth of home-made food -- look inside and you'd find obaasan making sushi, fresh to the order. Nothing fancy, just good and tasty, and a total bargain at $5! Yes $5 for a neatly packaged sushi box! Get the 7 piece mix for $5.05. Call ahead if you want larger orders. Taste their freshly-made sushi without soy sauce and wasabi first.
