Can anyone suggest a web site to use for searching rental properties in the southern California area?

I have tired craigslist but was not able to do a detailed search and I found too many repeats.

Perhaps none exists, maybe I will build one.

What would be desirable features a rental web site should have? Any suggestions?

The worm has turned... I can see it now:

"Hi, I'm Joe Renter and I'm here to lease your home. I smoke, inside of course, and have 17 'rescue' cats. I'm going to need to see your proof of ownership, your W-2's from the last two years, a current credit report, and 2 letters of recommendation from your other landlord friends. Also, I'm going to pay less than your asking price and I need you to pay for my utilities and cable. How soon can you get back to me?"

God help us if that vision of the future comes to pass.

I just wanna make sure the landlord isn't going to force me to move again.
