Wonder if anyone can provide some contractor recommendations for doing some Tile work in house?  The job is about 300 sqft of bathrooms.  Good idea to buy the material ourselves and hire a contractor to install it? Or find a contractor to take care of all?

I've search TI for these info but doesn't come out anything solid like window treatment and wood flooring.

I am in the same boat. House I just bought has carpet in the master bath and toilet room!  :-\

If I come across anyone I will pass the info.

Venetian recommended a guy...I think his name was Keith from Kohler tile.  When I googled that company nothing came up, so I was skeptical about the guy.

I've decided to live with stock vinyl floors for now and move on to other parts of my house.

Hey gang, since my dad got both of his hips replaced he can do small tile jobs.  The bad news is that he is going to Europe for 6 weeks starting next week.  He has all of the equipment so all you would need to do is tile the materials so if you guys can wait till he gets back he can probably do it.

USCTrojan, is this a joke?  ;)  But it doesn't seem to be joke.

Translation - I know a guy that can do it, but he's not here right now. How about a rain check?

:P

I didn't really mean that USCTrojan is offering a rain check, but that USCTrojan is offering his Dad for the job.

So what do you want to replace/re do with the tile? Is it carpet ?

Haha...no it's not a joke.  My dad remodeled several of my condos and did a few wood flooring and tile installs for a few of my buyers years ago.  His hips got bad and had to get them replaced in the past 2 years but he got his second wind with his new hips.  I don't know if he can handle big jobs (1,000sf+) but small bathroom tiling jobs are no sweat for him.  He's going to install crown molding when he gets back from Europe in my house.  :D

Nope, not another guy....my dad who has over 20 years of construction and has all of the tools required for the job (since I bought them for him years ago).  :P

I think someone here mentioned Tompkins Flooring.  Can anyone share your experiences with Tompkins?
They do tile and wood install, I used them for carpet install and was happy with their price and service.

I've come down to the following results for tile job:
  • Floor & Decor (For material only.  Used by USCTrojanCPA.)
  • Tompkins Flooring

Can anyone commend on these two stores or recommend any other tile store, tile contractor, or general contractor who can do tile?

I was just at floor and decor on Saturday and luckily found something the wife and i like.  The price was pretty good too. I sadly saw my six inch baseboards there for only $1 a foot! I just got them at Home Depot for $2.48!  :(

Now just on the quest to find someone to lay the floor, tile the shower, and around the bath.

Songkou when are you hoping to have it completed by?

Floor Decor has really good selection and some competitive prices (on par tile shops on State College).  That's where I got my bathroom tiles.

This is too funny, your seriously considering Uncle Trojan.  :P
Trojan Sr. upgraded 3 properties for me (he would have done my Irvine home but the bad hips did not permit it).  :D
