Recent weather in Irvine - drynessss

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Does anyone notice this or is having the same problem?

The weather recently has been extremely dry - my sensitive skin is acting up more than ever. Don't know if it's caused by the smoke.

I'm going through my 16 oz of Eucerin pretty fast!

Anteaterscientist: are you at all into facials? Yesterday I checked out the new FaceLogic spa in The District (tucked away in the back near the AT&T store). (Let me just preface that I have no financial stake in this place, because I'm going to come off sounding like a spokeswoman!) Anyway, it's a cute little spa that is probably one of the best I have ever been to. It smells fabulous, great music, really friendly owner and aesthetician, fantastic 50-minute facial, and best of all, the prices are very reasonable. It's so close to my townhouse in Westpark, and I am completely hooked. I definitely recommend checking them out.

LL: actually, the first facial I ever had was in Rhode Island. And I happen to know that there are a coupla splendid spas in the Coral Gables area, for all those wealthy NY/NJ/PA Hurricane undergrads to pamper themselves in on daddy's dime. Or have things changed at UM since I graduated, hmmm? ...smiles...

You graduated from U of M? That's where my law degree is from. I went at nite with the hub, long long ago, worked my way thru when you could still do that, and nobody pampered me, except the hub's old aunt gave us some downpayment money for a house we called fondly "the pit", which eventually got up in value to $300 grand. Long after we sold it.

Yeah, I was there back in the day, when the football team was "the Team of the 80s". I was on scholarship, and worked at the newspaper and the Open Door (over-the-phone counseling service). Lived on campus all four years; couldn't afford a car. I like reading your posts - it's nice to hear about Miami since I'm so far removed from it now. "Got some 'Canes over here! Whoosh whoosh!"

I couldn't find a decent South Florida blog, so thought that my posts might be welcome there, as Calif and Fla have so much in common.

Weather wetness here. Nobody much needs facials where the humidity is always

close to 100%. It's still very hot, too hot and mosquito-y to garden, even on the space coast.

Looks like a tropical storm is going to brush by all along the coast. Hoping brush by is all that happens.

No storms even brushed by, I think, whilst you graced South Florida's shores, ISM.

I have breathing problems as well, have found the following helps:

1. Go to hardware store and get a face mask (one of those that conforms to your face, with two elastics). Pretty cheap, I got a pack of 5 from Lowe's on Jamboree for $3 or so. Wear it outside for sure, or indoors if needed as well. Makes the air you breathe in a lot moister, and filters out a lot of the smoke particles (ie. these are the masks people wear when they go do sanding or whatever, so that makes sense).

2. Try and get the humidity up. Can just put some water in the bathtubs if don't have a humidifier.

3. Drink lots of water

Or, if you just can't take it anymore (I couldn't on Friday) - drive to a museum where they keep the expensive stuff (ex. California Natural History museum, Los Angeles Art Museum). Natural History museum was great on Friday - perfect air inside there - no trace of smoke, perfect humidity. Those are the places that have the premium air filtering to protect all the valuable stuff inside.

I notice it most on my eyes. Have to take drops of Systaine repeatedly to cure dry eyes tiredness. Either that or I'm spending way too much time reading IHB. Maybe both
