Last book I read was Hunger Games... thinking about World War Z.. any other recs?  Yes, it's sad, I only read books after I see the movie preview...

Haven't read that but heard it was good.

Z is a bit different from the movie from what I seen in the previews but it's a good read.

I've read cheap independent books from Amazon Kindle... Brett Battles and Russell Blake have spyish/assassin/gov conspiracy type books.
 
I am a huge Stephen Hunter fan.  His first book about Bob Lee Swagger called "Point of Impact" was made into a movie called "Shooter" with Mark Wahlberg.  The movie sucked and doesn't do justice to an amazing book.  Highly recommended.  Hunter goes on and has more books about Swagger and his dad, but Point of Impact started it all.  Trust me, you'll thank me later for this rec.

I actually liked the movie.. so the book should be even better?  Adding this to my Kindle to read list..
 
I am sure nothing I read will remote contribute in anyway to this post, but what the heck! I will post away :)

Just finished: Lean in. Husband had to go from one Costco to another after work to show his support to his wife with a work life. Did the book contribute in anyway towards enriching the leaning in experience? I will tell if someone asks.  I don't want to write three paragraphs that no one will read :'(

Still reading: Making Ideas Happen by Scott Belsky. There are a few things about organization that I liked, but then it gets to a point where instead of being productive, you are spending more time compulsively organizing. Best thing to of course is to go Homer and hire a secretary :)
 
CZ, I do, but honestly, I need a primer on the lean in thing.  I keep hearing it but don't really know it.

"Wool" Free on Kindle, and it's a novella, not sure why it says 528 pages, more like 58.  By Hugh Howley.  Nutshell, life in a post eco-collapse city bunker.

"The Martian  ~300 pages, free Kindle, hardcover coming winter for $15.  By Andy Weir.  present time stranded on Mars near term survival story.
 
At most I'll pay $4.99 for a Kindle book... but would rather read the free or 99-cent ones.

I read very fast so it ends up not being worth it if I spend more than $5.
 
Kindle has a robust self-publishing model setting up.  Some are a little rough on the edges, some pretty polished.  There's a huge selection of free with a large reviewing pool.

As for mainstream authors, no deals there unless your a Prime member and pick up on the library.

I was always expecting to pay less for an eBook, but that's not the case. I am even willing to pay double for an eBook as it's just such a better reading experience than a paper book.

CZ: Did you goto a bookstore asking for the two most boring books available? You deserve some more exciting books. Life is short.

The natural progression from 'Hunger Games' would be 'Game of Thrones', almost like a Hunger Games for adults.  The family that slays together, stays together.

I had high hopes about Lean In. Didn't know it would turn into a drab read relevant for women in my mother's era. But, I did read the book cover to cover :) I deserve a medal for that. I also shared several pages worth review/ personal experiences/ analysis with a group of friends. I deserve another medal for that.

Making ideas happen- I did benefit with a couple of ideas. Right now, going through this phase of growing pains and things are extremely unorganized. This book was highly recommended by someone I admire. But after a while, the checklist started having a checklist to check the list.. things got too intense even for OCDs.

Things that excite me : Read Nefartiti, Cleopatra's daughter. Historical fiction in general.
I am not sharing my romance list with you guys. I do read every Tuesday and Friday, smiling as I flip through the pages, giving the two most boring book names ever to anyone who asks what's on my kindle :P and no, they are not shades of anything.

IHO/ PS9, hunger game trilogy was available on Kindle lending library for prime members. Did you read it via that, or bought them? Helps to be have author friends also ;-) you get free preview reads. Kindle singles are also good if you like reading small books and don't like paying much.
 
I don't have a Prime account (I should get one) so I bought Hunger Games (I think for $5).

I tend not to like to read books if there is a movie coming out, then read the book after I watch the movie to fill in the details. The book made more sense of the Katniss/Peeta relationship. Was tempted to read Catching Fire and Mockingjay but probably will wait until after each movie releases.

I tend to read mainly scifi and spy/action thrillers or else I fall asleep.

Catching Fire was good, not as good as HG.  Did not like Mockingjay at all.  I'll try not to give any spoilers, but it's dark and I hated the ending.  Not sure how Hollywood will make that into a movie.
 
haha uh oh... u actually took my advice >_<... NooOooOoooo....

i dunno... i thought it was pretty good haha... i read to like his 3rd or 4th book... it gets kinda wierd after the first book cause each book is like on its own tangent (ie one is about the first book but from another kids perspective... another book is like they blast off into some other place... dunno gets real complicated >_< and i kinda got lost so i stopped after the 3rd or 4th book lol)...

didnt actually think someone would take my suggestion >_< doh

HG was decent but CF and Mockingjay were terrible as books.  I can actually see them being better movies.
 
Started World War Z today.. looks like I'll be hooked for a couple days.. crap, left the book at work...

Funny how 3 co-workers mentioned to me.. "You're reading a book?!?"
