[RANT] UPS says Delivered but it is not

I've had several instances of getting notified that UPS has delivered my package to my front door but in reality, the package has not been delivered yet. Almost in every instance, the package ends up getting delivered a few hours later. Has anyone else experienced the same?

USPS did that to me once, and I was freaking out.  $1200 worth of stuff in a ~8"x8"x8" box, and insurance was not an option when I checked out.  Showed up the next day, after I had already filed an online report with the postmaster.  UPS will do it too, very rarely.  I assume it's to spiff up some performance metric with the delivery guys.  At least now with outdoor cameras running 24/7 I can offer up some "proof" something was or wasn't delivered if needed.
